This was the first time the Islanders have scored into an empty net ALL SEASON. It took them a whopping 59 games to do it. They’ve played 22 overtime games because of their terrible penalty kill (last in the league) and their inability to put games away late.

It was a loss, but honestly a pretty solid game on both sides. Really good to see Detroit take a defensive, close loss with an empty-netter as opposed to a blowout. Big improvement from last season's streakiness for sure!

I don't usually complain about the refs like many do but the Islanders definitely got some help from them with the blatant non calls and the ticky tack hooking call on Detroit that led to the PP goal. However, it doesn't change the fact that the Wings didn't show up in the 1st period and imploded defensively each time they tied it in the 3rd. Also, a rare instance where Lyon looked shaky.

Same problem ive said the wings have all season when were losing close games its bc we dont play 60mins we either throw the 1st period and try to recover in the 2nd and 3rd or we play hard in the 1st and 2nd then fall of in the 3rd. Gotta play 60mins

As an Isles fan our defense have been playing 2 on 1’s extremely BAD! Sorokin couldn’t come way above his crease to cut off the angle off and challenge Kan to shoot because or defenseman never takes the pass away! I couldn’t believe they actually played a 2 on 1 correctly when Kane scored! They usually always go for the puck carrier or skate in the middle or worse yet slide & leaving Sorokin out to dry! (I think Coach Roy is trying to drill it in there heads that the puck carrier isn’t the biggest threat! It’s the guy skating with him uncovered)! I play hockey for a long time and it’s hockey 101! On a two on one cover the forward without the puck and let your goaltender only has to worry about the puck carrier because he knows his teammates have the pass well covered! Sorokin stayed deeper in his net because he has to worry about that pass getting across to a wide-open player! When I played? Our netminder told us at the beginning of every season (because there would be new guys) that if it’s a 2 on 1 and you take the guy with the puck and leave that seem pass (we used to call it the slot pass) open and I have to worry about 2 players scoring because you’re not doing your job and covering the guy without the puck? Don’t bother playing on this team!

As a NY Isles fan the guys announcing the game are the professionals of professional! Not only that, they know the game! I’d love for them to do International games so I can enjoy their professionalism and knowledge of hockey! Unfortunately, we live in the 21st century and there’s tremendous ageism & that’s pathetic! This type of ageism didn’t exist in the '90s, a lot of BS that politicians are creating out of thin air NEVER existed in the '90s! I know, because I lived it!

У них сейчас отличное звено из креативных и забивных игроков сложилось - Ларкин - Кейн - Дебринкет. Отлично комбинируют, при этом каждый индивидуально силен и может в одиночку гол организовать, как это было со второй шайбой Детройта. Ларкин поборолся у борта и пропихнул шайбу впёред, а там уже Кейн резко ускорился, выскочил на ворота и мастерски забил шайбу.

Ровная и равная игра. "Крылья" пару шайб сами себе привезли - то Шиаро отдал сопернику шайбу прямо перед своими воротами, 4-ю шайбу Лайон сам запихал в свои ворота. При этом вполне могли перевести игру в овертайм, но Кейн промахнулся из отличной позиции, а потом получили гол в пустые ворота. Бывает и такое. Идём дальше.
