I've been a Red Wings fan since before Stevie Y came onboard at 18 years old and almostly became Captain. He's been that ever since. He was always great, he was never a problem at all. Back then the league had Gretzky, Lemieux and then Yzerman. In that order of talent level IMO. He could score you 50+ or be a great two way Center. Scotty Bowman (9x Stanley Cup winner) told him that he had to be the great two-way Center to really put Detroin over the top, The rest is history. Fans can be fickle be but as far as he's concerned I don't recall anything but adoration for him, that is still very much there today. Devil fans were yelling "fire Lindy!" after two games last year, before they ran off 13 wins in a row. That was embarrassing to their fan base - big time. That's a fickle fan base if ever there was one. Be glad Ranger weren't ever part of anything like that.🤯 Stevie is, as you probably know, the Pres/GM in Detroit and so far he's working his magic like he did in Tampa. The Florida game was very winnable and yesterday we beat Boston. I'm happy with the "Yzerplan" so far. Detroit is a year or two away from being an elite team again. Tomorrow we play your Rangers. It should be a good game I think. Good Luck! @@94champs 😄

I think this guy doesn't know the difference between a MOVE and a FOLD. He rates as the best Shane Doan Dale Jets 1.0/Coyotes player of all time, while rating Howerchuk the best Jets 2.0/Thrashers player of all time, even though Dale Howerchuk NEVER EVEN PLAYED FOR THEM. He played for the original Winnipeg jets that MOVED to Phoenix, and was retired by the time the Atlanta Thrashers/Jets 2.0 where in the league. Meaning he literally named 2 DIFFERENT players as THE best of all time for the SAME team, or named a player as GOAT for a team he never played for and couldn't have played for as the team did not exist when he was in the league. So of course this guy's going to totally disregard ALL Hartford Whalers players, because in his mind, that team does not exist and has nothing to do with the Carolina Hurricanes even though they're officially recognized as THE SAME FRANCHISE, just with a move and rename.

The selection of Nick Lidstrom for the Detroit Red Wings was a bit of a surprise as he is not the first player most people would think of. HOWEVER, when looking at his consistency night after night, durability, playoff minutes per game, and his mind for the game, it's no wonder he was the one player who became the franchise's rock solid platform for success. I saw Nick's whole career and he could do anything you'd want from a defenseman in the European style of hockey. He wasn't a fighter, not saying he wasn't able to be rough. As a forward Yzerman was a great 200 foot player that sacrificed his own scoring totals to be what Scotty needed from him to makes the Wings a Stanley Cup Championship team. What's next? This is “recent” bias regarding the Red Wings. While Nick Lidstrom maybe the greatest defenseman who ever played, Gordie Howe was the greatest Red Wing who ever played. Not only was he a great goal scorer in an era when goal scoring was down, he was an extremely tough, intimidating and effective two way player. Nobody dared messed with him. The few who did regretted it deeply. The late Lou Fontinato ( RIP), could attest to the extraordinary strength that Gordie possesed, after a tussle with him in 1959. Gordie did not look for fights, but he did make those who took cheap shots at his teammates pay the price. He also was a great skater and passer. His long loping strides made him look much slower than he actually was. Anyone that played against him will agree with that. He also possesed one of the hardest wrist shots in the game. This is a tough call for me, as I am at the age where saw much more of Nick than I did of Gordie. But you missed this one guys. P. S. Gordie played on Stanley cup winners in 1950, 1952, 1954 and 1955. He played on runner ups 4 times in the 60’s.

LMAO what!? So many issues with this list including wrong numbers but as a Wild fan I'll comment on that. Gaborik?! Koivu has hundreds more points than Gaborik and is the only player to have his jersey retired by the team as they recognize he was the best player in franchise history. Interestingly the best though, is Kirill Kaprizov and thats not modern day bias. His point rate out paces any other player by a significant amount. Also, Gaborik didnt even play half his career with the team. By that logic Gretzky should be on the top of all 4 teams he played for

I started watching, giving it a chance, but still wondering how many flaws there would be; it took until the 2nd player, haha: Winnipeg / Arizona, and you don't pick Dale Hawerchuck? Shameless... But let's continue! Buffalo ... (here's an argument that could come up with several of your picks - where does 'longevity' factor into the equation?) Hasek was phenomenal, but for a pretty short time period. My pick would be Perrault, who I realize you gave love to, but, considering longevity, he has to be the man. Honorable mentions: Pat Lafontaine - pure skill?: Alexander Mogilny! Calgary? That's a tough one. I'll accept your choice, but, Al MacInnis played there... not to mention all the other players you mentioned, AND more... Okay, though. Chicago is a close one too... I'll accept Makita BASED on longevity (but, wait, that DIDN'T count for Perrault in Buffalo? See...??), but, Bobby Hull? Had he not bolted to The WHA, where he scored ANOTHER 5,000 points!, he could still be considered the best. And what about Denis Savard? PURE SKILL WISE, he was arguably the best Hawk ever. But Hull may have been the most feared (skill wise) player of his generation (the 1960's) Colorado: I instinctively knew it was going to be Sakic, but, if you're talking "franchise" (and you even mentioned Sakic played his entire career for one franchise, and started in Quebec - so, are these FRANCHISE players, ALL TIME, or not?) then the answer is Peter Stastny, period. (And that's not taking ANYTHING away from Sakic, who was one of the greatest players in league history!) Detroit: Can't even bother to respond to that pick... ugh. Seriously? A little history lesson needed here. Florida: Longevity? Again, all over the place here... You argue for some players DUE to their longevity (like Lidstrom) and then take a guy that PURE SKILL WISE, yes, was the "best" player to ever play for the team (and he'll be mentioned TWICE, I assume, as he would even more so take that honor home for The Vancouver Canucks!)... But, come on; for a generally terrible franchise, Luongo has to be the winner here, balancing longevity and skill. Montreal ... ????? Okay, I mean, it's really a "pick 'em" situation here... So many possibilities. I can't say Beliveau is wrong, but... I wouldn't pick him. Maybe I'd argue for Ken Dryden. Rangers? No... NO... NO NO NO NO NO! Oh, my... NO! SOOO many other players; hard to say which one of them (all the 'original six' are difficult, of course). But anyway... On it could go... but finally, the Winnipeg franchise is Atlanta, where Kovalchuck would be the best player ever... NOT The Jets of Hawerchuck, who are Arizona now. Cheers... Glad you picked Dionne over Gretzky for LA, anyway! 🥰
