It's easy to win in the playoffs outside of Toronto. The real challenge is to come to Toronto and win in the playoffs as a Toronto sports team. Winning in the playoffs as a Toronto sports team is worth more than winning in the playoffs anywhere else because of how difficult it is to do.

Unfortunately the contact with Yamamoto's head was incidental, but in a case like that more often then not someone's likely to stick up for their guy. Good on Holl for not running from the challenge though either.

The facts don't lie. Leafs are 0-10 since 2018 in first round playoff series. They haven't got past the first round since ... 2004. That is almost 20 years ago. They haven't won the Cup in almost 60 years. How do you define a Bad Team? Too bad the Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment is not a publicly traded company or they would be a can't miss investment. They fill out the arena and successfully market a very bad product year after year.

Yamo's head absolutely whips off of Holl... and after the collision it looks like Holl's elbow is up... so, either he hit him square with his shoulder, or Holl threw his elbow in to Yamo's head... either way, he aimed for his head, and that's not really a clean hit... if he'd just posted and let yamo run in to him, it'd be fine... but it looks like he crouched to increase the chance of head hit, which isn't allowed.

I've watched this game since 1978. Although Gretzky was the most outstanding player ever, separating from mere superstars, McDavid is the most talented player that has ever laced up skates. There is way more talent in the league nowadays, and players train all year long. The clutching, holding, hooking and elbowing was crazy back in the 80s, so players were less able to showcase their skill.

Leafs fan here. These are the two teams I've been watching this year and this game reinforced a few things: 1. Leafs have a good but not superb offense. They have some great goal scorers and playmakers but they rarely overwhelm a solid defense. 2. The Leafs still struggle with defense. You need a great goalie to make it far in the playoffs. The Leafs have okay goaltending. 3. Connor McDavid is a monster. There are only a couple players in the league who can score at will like he can. 4. In the modern NHL, offense alone probably won't win you a cup. Even when you score like the Oilers did last year against the Flames.

They played pretty well against the Bruins and never got rewarded but this is two in a row of acceptable defence. Glad to see them get a big win against one of the best in the league. Leafs need to be better than that.

The best in the league?! Can't believe you are referring to the Leafs. They haven't won a cup in almost SIXTY years (a lifetime). They haven't got past the first round since 2004 (almost 2 decades). And they are 0-10 in playoff clinching games in the last 5 years. Isn't that the definition of "Pathetic"?

@@kaimalino528 yet pointwise at this point they are in the top tier of teams in the league, and as this is still the regular season your points about the playoff failures is not in anyway relevant to my post other then a chance to rub it in Leaf's fans face. Well I am not a Leaf fan (beyond being a fan of all Canadian teams) and I hope they give their fans something to be happy with this season. I hope the Oilers do too.

This is what happens when you make trades for players for no reason. The team was playing amazing after the orielly trade then Dubas goes out and ships out engvall and sandin for no reason. Jake mccabe was terrible tonight, good thing we only traded a first round pick and 2nd round pick for him, and traded away sandin 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂

Other angle in replay shows shoulder went into his head and his elbow came up a bit. That's probably all RNH saw from his angle on the ice. Yamamoto just missed 12 games with a concussion. Holl is 6'3 Yamamoto is 5'7. It's gonna happen. he gets shoulders to the head a lot lol

first place in the west is still up for grabs by almost EVERY team in the west. Oilers look strong, Av's defending Cup champs, and maybe Dallas? The East is the beast that will win the cup this year. Boston, Tampa Bay, Rangers, Devils, Carolina, and yes, even the Leafs will be strong in 5-6 weeks. Excited for what I hope to be some of the best playoff hockey in years!

@@arthurau9231 the same top goalie the Oilers scored 5 on a couple nights ago? Sure 5 on 47 shots isn't horrific, but I would be surprised if that's a sustainable shot volume in a 7 game series. I wouldn't say it's as big of a move as you'd think, even with Quick having an off year. Considering what they did to the Vezina runner up in the second round too I wouldn't be so sure.
