7:16 this is a perfect example of why Barkov’s the best 2-way player in the league. Steals the puck, carries it into the zone and leaves it right in the slot for Reinhart. Although he got an assist, a lot of his plays do not show up on the stat sheet. Sure he won’t put up 50 goals like Matthews, but this man does EVERYTHING right. I cannot even recall the last time he made a bad mistake and the ones who watch regularly know exactly what I’m talking about.

Last “mistake” he made was the broken stick on an empty net, then rushing back and injuring himself in an effort to prevent the goal… painful to watch but certainly a statement for what kind of a character he is.

Barkov could very easily be a 50-goal, 100+ point player every season but unlike Matthews, he puts team success over personal accolades each and every night. He's out there playing defense first, stealing pucks from the league's best goal scorers, and creating time and space for his teammates. Regardless of who he's playing with, he elevates their game. He's the definition of Hart and soul.

🥳This game made my Thanksgiving list; just a beautiful Florida hockey game. The cats looked so cool, confident, and competent. Grateful that some of my all-time favorites scored: Reinhart, Bennett, Verhaeghe, and Barkov as well as our best new player, Samoskevich. Awesome to see Stolarz, OEL, and Lorentz back home; I miss these guys. They were part of the best Panther team ever last season. 3:28 #44, please ban all shots from areas far from this position. Pack just falls beautifully into the glove of the opposing goalie, and there is no rebound or deflection. I don't understand the value of defender who can't fake shot, can't no-look pass, and doesn't even take PK. Even AM34, MM16, OEL are on the PK. Against last year's champions, all of the bottom six players who were all MARLIES Roster at the opening season, fought well.

The Leafs have been winning without Matthews and 6 other regulars from their lineup. It was bound to catch up to them at some point. Coming into tonight, the Leafs had won 4 in a row, and Florida had lost 4 in a row. You just knew Florida was going to be up for this one.

So what's going on with NHL goalies ? Almost every single game there is a goal to the top corners and the keeper is on his knees. Do they not teach these guys to stay on their damn feet anymore? I totally get the lateral movement and covering most of the lower net but come on. It's fine though if your 6'2"+ but stay on your skates guys.

Again, we are missing 70% of our Forward group because of injuries.
