Even with McDavid, The Oilers would’ve lost this game. Their defense was nonexistent. There’s some deep structural issues here, and if they don’t work them out soon, this could end up being a lost season. You can’t win the cup this early in the season, but you can very well lose it if you aren’t careful.

Goals 4, 6 and 7...Watch the replays...100% Bouchard....UTTERLY USELESS. Yes, he scored goals and has an offensive upside....BUT....He is such a massive defensive liability it doesn't even matter. The Oilers are deluding themselves if they keep pretending he is a top 4 D-men. He has done nothing but regress since Duncan Keith retired. They either make him a forward or trade him. This experiment is over.

I think its becoming clear the oilers struggles goes beyond goaltending at this point. Its more of a defensive structure issue or some players simply dragging. The goaltending tandem is not elite but when they're both getting lit up you've got bigger issues

Defense is very poor, Both goalies Campbell & Skinner couldn't stop a beach ball most games, & Draisital refuses to back check as he constantly stands in-between his blueline and center ice when the puck is deep in the Oilers zone....This Team can't win hockey games unless they are spoon fed a ton of power plays & even then a win is still questionable...😂😂

Oilers can't play a full 60 minute game. Most of it is attributed to the absolutely abysmal defence. For a stanley cup contending team the defensive mistakes being made are completely inexcusable. Its time to start holding players and coaching staff accountable.

The goalie is part of the defense so yes, it is partly his fault as well. Good or bad defense, the goalie is expected to make some big saves. The Oilers just aren't getting that so far from either goalie.

Yeah you just can't blame the goalies for this mess of a season so far, it's all just them playing bad defense, not picking up a guy, puck watching, not taking away passing lanes, giving up breakaways or odd man rushes. No goalie is gonna dig a team out of a hole that bad, they need to play better in front of campbell/skinner or they're done.

@@eggrolll Every NHL goalie makes big saves, that's why they are in the NHL. How many big saves a goalie makes proves his worth. The Oilers simply don't have goalies that prove their worth. It has nothing to do with how good or bad the defense is. What makes a goalie great is his ability to bail out his defense in troubled times. The Oilers' goalies are making those defensive troubled times even worse.

Another brilliant display of how not to play defence. Stand around and watch the puck and never clear any opposition forward from the slot. Bouchard the "bomb" has to be benched. Clueless defensively and skates without any sense of urgency. What goalie would want to join the Oilers? No defence, and most of the forwards think defence is not their problem
