Almost 1/3 of the regular season has passed and we can draw conclusions about Detroit's game. Raymond, Larkin, and DeBrincat look relatively good. Tarasenko is productive now. But everything is very bad after that. The lower lines do not provide any sharpness or results. Apparently, this will be another disastrous season for Detroit and Detroit will dive for a high pick in the draft. And in the summer, Yzerman will have to seriously shake up the roster, and it is logical to expect that the changes will begin with the coaching staff.

Detroit is so f pathetic, out of steam this year and brutally anemic when on the offensive zone. Everything they do is like half a step behind last year's pace or compared to other teams. Then comes the passive defending which causes every freaking goaltender be so on the edge all the time guessing what happens next.

The passive defending (and lack of physical play in general) is killing this team. And a myriad of other things. And yes, we look slow most every night. Everyone is deflated and lost. Lalonde is ineffective. SY needs to send a serious message and mitigate this or we’re doomed.

Weird how the 'passive defending' is so much more a problem for Raymond/Larkin's lines than for Kane's. Why do they give up so many goals?

@@paulwt9783 Because half their defense (Chiarot, Petry and Gustafsson) can't play defense and they bring no offense. Johansson at least has an excuse of being a rookie. Only Seider and Edvinsson are true top 4 defensemen and the rest are playing like 6th or 7th defensemen or AHL level. Then you have a coach that thinks a good defensive system is 5 guys collapsing to the slot to all try and play goalie.

Growing up in Kanata and being a life ling Sens fan, Detroit was always my 2nd favourite team due to our local superstar Stevie Y. I got to go to the now named Stevie Y arena in Nepaen when he brought the cup back. But after the way that underperforming duster Debrinkcat weasled his way out of Ottawa and only wanted to go to his hometown of Detroit, screwing Ottawas return in the process, I now cant stad Detroit becose of that little baby weasle!

Tarasenko looked slow when he was here in Ottawa. Missed a lot of shots that he used to hit in St. Louis as well. He’s definitely lost multiple steps. Kane just looks bored. Not sure why he resigned there.

Don't get me started on Wings prospects, Wings couldn't draft a skilled player for the life of them in the past 20 years, they were lucky with Dats, Zetterberg, Larkin, Seider (too early to tell), Raymond( too early to tell), Fedorov, Lidstrom, Yzerman, Franzen, Kronwall, Konstantinov , Nyquist, Kozlov, Holmstrom, Osgood, Draft class that were a bust: Emmerton, Mursak, JUrco (Thought he would be a huge skilled player), Oullet, Sproul, Marchenko, Matthias, Svechnikov, tatar, Pearson, Brendan Smith (Thought he would be the next Lidstrom), Athanasiou (Not sure what happened to him, he had skills but traded to Edmonton for Gagne and 2nd pick) McCollum, Paterson, Zadina, Bednar, Frk (Who i thought would be a sniper for years to come), Rasmussen to me is a bust, Lindstrom, Joe Veleno and Jonatan Berggren, Cholowski (Disappointed), Smith, Hronek(can't say Hronek is a bust, a stupid trade which I still couldn't understand, but his trade landed future Pellikka), Mrazek (he needed more time and not sure why Howard didn't get traded instead of him, huge disappointment), Howard (never liked him), Givani Smith (figured he would be a great 4th liner tough guy like McCarty and Kocur), Landon Ferraro, Callahan, Nastrasil, Jensen, Sheahan, Pulkkinen (Another shocker like Jurco, not sure what happened to him), Mantha, the list can go on, oh Aaron Ward, Ericsson, another Erikkson i believe with a K?, Pushor, KIndl

Can anyone tell me why exactly are the Wings paying Seider $8,250,000 a year again? He's supposed to play defense right? Every time I turn around he's turning it over in his own zone or being out hustled and its leading to goals against!! There is way to much talent on this team for them to barely be getting 20 shots on goal game after game... If its LaLonde they're not playing for then get rid of him... I think Yzerman is being to patient with his head coach.

@lukeboyd3226 Lucas Rayond is a house on fire right now, seems to be playing hard for his raise. I hope Moritz Seider isn't pulling a Sergei Fedorov! Gets a huge contract and guarteed money and decides to coast instead of earn it. I like Seider, I really do. I'm not blaming it all on him. The entire team is abysmal on the defensive play! But the whole team didn't just cash in on a $8.25m per year contract extension...smh

Perhaps Derek Lalonde can explain why Lucas Raymond and that top line played horribly all night and got dominated - including Lucas personally handing the Sens their first goal w one of the most pathetic efforts you'll ever see, at multiple times on the scoring play - and yet at the end of the game he PUT DEBRINCAT ON THE TOP LINE w them. ie, he tried to REWARD Lucas Raymond. he took Cat away from Kane, which had been by far the team's best line all game. and tried to reward Raymond at the end and give him a hero moment opportunity. What did Raymond do to earn what Lalonde tried to give him there? Nothing, he was awful all night long. He gave up the first goal. The favoring of this kid at Kane's expense and at the whole team's expense has destroyed the season. When that awful Larkin Raymond Cat line gave up the losing goal at the end I laughed so hard. That line is now losing 11-5 this year together. The Kane Cat Larkin line meanwhile that we never ever get to see together is winning 17-7 the past 2 years in what little time it's been allowed to play together.

@@SceptileSlash Get who going? Why is getting Raymond going the goal? He's been going, he's on a hot streak. How about get Kane going, by giving him Larkin/Cat? You've just made my point. Why is EVERYTHING for Raymond all the time? Why does it always have to be him? Why does the whole team's universe revolve around this kid? He's not some Bedardian prospect. Kane, one of the most reliable scorers in NHL history, who led the team in points per 60 last year, is now under a half a point per game. He's been stuck w complete garbage almost all year. Lalonde never tries to get HIM going. Never does anything to help him. In fact the opposite. It's sickening and I'll tell you what, the locker room has taken good notice of it too and he's lost the room bc of it. The room reveres 88. He's a legend and they respect him. Lalonde's constant disrespect of him has alienated the entire team.

The team sees the legendary player who they respect the hell out of, who is chasing important milestones, getting stuck w crap and disrespected all year and left struggling to produce anything, and how do you think they feel about the coach they see do that? Treating Kane like trash in front of a team of NHL players is like walking into a church and spitting on a statue of Mary in front of the whole congregation. Nobody's going to like you. That is a big usually unmentioned part of how he's completely lost the locker room. He's treating one of the most special players and careers ever like trash. Players don't like or respect that very much.

Yzerman's plan ain't working this time. He's responsible for all these terrible signings that haven't added up to much, both Compher and Copp haven't scored in like 14-17 games. Atrocious, slow defense. Absolutely no consistent goaltending. Fire Lalonde maybe, but the real problem is the head of the snake.
