I believe that "Hockey Night In Canada" games were still being broadcasting black-and-white during the 1966-67 regular season, even though the CBC (and CTV) began broadcasting some programs in color during the fall of 1966. HNIC began color broadcasts with the 1967 playoffs.

It's fun to watch these games from the final 6-team season and pick out the players who would be condemned to expansion teams the following year. A few I noticed, although I'm not 100%: Bathgate...Penguins Fontaine...Penguins Prentiss...Penguins Hampson...Seals Cullen...North Stars Boiven...North Stars Sawchuck...Kings Two other Leafs were Ron Stewart to the Blues, and Hillman to the Flyers.

The 1966-67 regular season was all Chicago Blackhawks they won the Prince of Wales Trophy over 2nd place Canadiens by 17 points then the Leafs upset the Hawks in 6 games which led to Phil Esposito being traded to the Bruins in the big deal and of course the Leafs won their last Stanley Cup to this day

One of the players the Bruins sent to Chicago for Esposito was defenseman Gilles Marotte. Then Marotte was part of the trade that sent Bill White from the Kings to the Hawks. Not his fault of course, but Marotte was involved in two very one-sided trades.

The Leafs did the impossible the following season: They were the only East Division team to post a losing record to the new expansion teams going 10-12-2. The Big M, Stemkowski, and Unger were probably thrilled to be traded.

I would bet my pension that Gordie evened the score. May have taken a month, or a year, but eventually Douglas would get what was coming to him!!!

They eventually became teammates. No surprise that the 1st period penalty on Howe was for...elbowing!
