As a Jets fan, I get why because they were strong in previous years but this season feels different. Their previous issues came from bad D and potential locker room cancers but it looks like those issues have been fixed. It’s really hard to find a weakness this year especially since they’ve tightened up their power play in the last few games.

It brings me so much joy to see my Jets at #1 and know that they're playing like they deserve to be there. This is in stark contrast to last year where I saw them winning games but Bowness was always asked how he's going to beat structure into them when not listening is winning games. You could see they were sloppy and were out-scoring their many, MANY mistakes. Helle was stealing games left and right as well. We didn't deserve to be so high up at this time last year. We deserve it this year as the team is playing as a complete unit, not a bunch of individuals.

I was glad when PLD left. The guy could go beast mode absolutely. However, when it counted most, he was taking costly penalties in the playoffs constantly. That was when I decided we'd be better off without him. A few is fine, but he had plenty and that was just first round
@FischerFan

@@TheSobeysworker They unloaded Dubois and bought out Blake Wheeler. The latter did not owe the team anything. Re-signing Hellebuyck and Scheifele have proven to be astute moves by team management in that they did not believe in unloading all the key players and starting all over again. A gradual transition is always a better strategy. Fifty years ago in Montreal, Henri Richard was team captain and Guy Lafleur was still finding his stride. Management's patience soon paid off.

Jets having a great road trip …maybe because they brought their Dads along. When KC got injured, people thought they would spiral into a losing streak. BUT other players took up the slack and all lines began contributing. Ehlers has found his footing on that top line …Nino is clicking with Lowry and Appy…and the biggest surprise is the MAD line ( Morgan, Alex, Dom ) Having Helly playing well along with a solid backup in Brossoit make this team the whole package right now.. I see the coaching staff is using these games against the weaker teams as 'experiment' games. Trying different line combos, allowing players freedom to try different plays, expand their skill set. The Jets don't run up the scores to pad personal stats. Plus I wouldn't be too surprised if they use it to assess opposition players in a trade scenario or off-season signings that would work in their team system.

I don't think he dislikes the wings... I think it's just other teams moving up. I will say it's a bit weird to see them 6 slots back of Tampa with 2 GIH 1 point back and a much better goal differential on the season. The issues of December greatly hinge on Lyon getting hurt after he started to play well, Husso getting hurt right after and us running our 3rd and 4th string goalies in tandem for 4 weeks. Husso is having a brutal season but if Lyon continues playing >.900 hockey I think the wings get into the playoffs. It's a big if but the offense is near the top of the league if we get some goaltending I think the team can get to a wild card spot. I don't pay too much attention to the week by week power rankings. Most of their placement here is a result of a crap December. If they can win tonight and leave the West Coast trip with a winning record and come back and get consistent tending we will get in there.

Rangers ⬇️ (4-6) 7. Avalanche ↔️ 8. Golden Knights ⬇️ (5-8) 9. Stars ⬇️ (8-9) 10. Oilers ⬆️ (13-10) 11. Hurricanes ⬆️ (14-11) 12. Maple Leafs ⬆️ (15-12) 13. Penguins ⬇️ (10-13) 14. Flyers ⬇️ (11-14) 15. Red Wings ⬆️ (16-15) 16. Coyotes ⬇️ (12-16) 17. Predators ↔️ 18. Devils ⬆️ (19-18) 19. Wild ⬇️ (18-19) 20. Islanders ⬆️ (21-20) 21. Kraken ⬆️ (25-21) ⭐️ 22. Lightning ↔️ 23. Flames ⬆️ (24-23) 24. Senators ⬇️ (20-24) 25. Blues ⬇️ (23-25) 26. Sabres ↔️ 27. Capitals ↔️ 28. Blue Jackets ↔️ 29. Canadiens ↔️ 30. Ducks ↔️ 31. Blackhawks ↔️ 32. Sharks ↔️ For those who don’t know, the ⭐️ is for the team(s) that moved up the most. Like THG says it’s not based on the standings whatsoever, just how I personally think teams have played throughout the whole year. With that there was no movement in the bottom of my standings which is weird for that many teams to not move; however I will address having the Capitals that low, last week I got a little bit of flak for having them here but like THG said they win games they have no right winning, and the rankings aren’t just about winning, I personally think all the other teams above them have played better than them even if their records don’t show it. Most of the rankings are similar or close to THG but I will point out some that I disagree with: I personally don’t think the Flyers have been playing like a top 8 team in the nhl especially in rankings based on current play since they’ve been mediocre in their last 10 going 4-3-3, I will say that most of those games ever close but they weren’t against the top teams, they played tight games against bad or middling teams for the most part so I personally don’t see them that high but I’m sure I’ve done that with teams too. I also don’t think Carolina has shown enough to climb that high on the rankings, I haven’t been as high on them as THG most of the season but there are so many more teams that have proved great play throughout this entire season where as the Hurricanes had been struggling a little bit, although I will say that they are looking a lot better and seem to be on their way back to the top, I just think it was a bit of a leap for them to jump 5 spots. And my final disagreement is about the Red Wings and the Coyotes, really think that from what these teams have shown they are at least contenders for the playoffs and that they are better than their record says, I know their records have gotten a worse over the last bit and they have been falling on my rankings I just think where they are is low, but I can understand it when I look at the standings. Maybe I’m seeing too much with these teams but I guess we will find out. Anyhow that is my power rankings, I know people will disagree and that’s fine, don’t have to be a jerk or anything because of it, but yeah I’m just putting it out there. Thanks, great video too!! Keep up the the great work

@@maxfish4270 But the loss to Boston they played extremely well and it was Swayman that gave B the win. Good goaltending efforts by both teams against the Kings, and holding their own (Detroit won the shooting metrics like high-danger chances, shots off the rush, etc and I think possession too, LA just threw a million shots at Detroit from the outside) and getting a W against a Cup contender, and you think they should move down? Going back to the losses after Christmas, Detroit also held their own. The wins for their opponents did not come easy and could have gone either way. They weren't playing losing hockey like they had been since that Dec 7th loss to San Jose. I know the win tonight doesn't count, but Detroit sweeping the Cali trip goes to show that moving them down when they played this well is definitely a mistake. They now hold a WC spot with a game in hand over TB, and were definitely a top 16 team over the past week.

@severed111
@severed111 8 ай бұрын
Have to upvote you on that. If only Dach, Newhook and HP were not out since so long, MTL would seriously be dangerous, especially since it is now clear who the #1 goalie is, and it's obvious that it's always been Sam. Hopin' some team with a weak goalie, *cough* Skinner *cough* will want Allen because after last night he definitely is on the offering table.

Boston is tied for 1st in pts in THE ENTIRE NHL! We have the fewest loses in THE ENTIRE NHL, we're tied for 1st in THE ENTIRE NHL in pts %, and we're not in the top 8? We could win the Cup and not make the top row. Philly is 12th in the entire NHL, YET THEY ARE AHEAD OF THE Bs? This is ridiculous!

Power Rankings are not just based on the number of points a team has - Shannon has explained that numerous times (including in this video). They are also based on consistency of play, strength of schedule, etc.. Why some people don't get it is beyond me... That said, the vast majority of the Bruins' points came at the beginning of the season when they were virtually unbeatable. Since then, they've come down to Earth quite a bit. Ask yourself: When was the last time Boston actually beat a team above them in the power rankings? The answer: Nov. 22nd against Florida (3-1). Since then, the only point they got from playing a team currently ranked above them was from an OT loss to the Rangers on Dec.16th. And yet, you and a lot of other Bruins' fans think they should be in the Top-Eight? Go figure...

The most recent Bruins regulation win against a team that wasn't in the bottom two rows (prior to the Devils moving up to 16th this week) was 3-1 against Florida on November 22.The next most recent regulation win against a non-bottom-two-rows team was on November 9. Flyers are tied for 4th best points percentage since Dec 1st.

Respectfully, completely disagree with Toronto’s spot. I don’t think wins in California shouldn’t cause a team to move up. They won all games decisively and played superb defensively (something they have not done well all year). Plus, they did so with their 3rd string (arguably 4th string) goalie given that Woll, Samsonov and Murray are all out. Not saying they should move up dramatically. But given how well they played, and circumstances in net, I think, going 3-0 in California deserves some movement.

Not that I totally disagree with you, but the Maple Leafs are in a tough spot in terms of Power Rankings - sure, they beat the Kings convincingly, but they also beat the 30th and 32nd-ranked teams. Add in the fact that the teams ahead of them either played well or, if they played poorly, not poorly enough to drop them below Toronto.

Carolina as underdogs is my preference except I wouldn't trade away wins like this recent week against the Rangers and the capitals. I'd argue the power play has been the key difference. Toss out the blowout losses since that tends to happen to every team at least a few times every season and there were several games with 3 or under goals allowed where the power play went 0 for.

Two of the goals were PP goals (so the PP is working again with 2/3). Hyman scored all goals with Bouch getting 2 Primary and 1 Secondary assist. Hyman's 3rd hat trick of the season and 4th of his career ALL of which come with the Oilers. Considering how many men were in the crease it's amazing Skinner could change his mind (or his underwear) with that little room let alone make any saves. They waived it off initially but on review it came back. Yes, a shutout would have been nice for Skinner but a .967 Save %age isn't chopped liver either and improves his standings. PK was 100% tonight on 3 chances. The two penalties taken by Artem Zub were directly responsible for the PP goals the Oilers scored. The Senators were hitting machines nearly double the Oilers (27 to 14) but, in the end, the boys won, Hyman got a hattie, Connor got a point, Bouch got 3, Nuge got 1, wish Drai could have gotten a goal to extend his streak but he'll probably just come back and get a hattie of his own next game (one never knows with him). Take care all.

AND it will probably have a whiteboard you could throw some stuff up about before you film. On topic. I'm really happy that Philly is still top 16 at all, so 8th is amazing. Columbus game was a stumble. Calgary was a whole game effort. They keep demonstrating if they had some more talent, they could be something else. The dread of losing favorite players is starting to creep in as deadline approaches slowly. The elation that it isn't Chuck Fletcher making the decision makes me feel like I'm wrapped in a warm blanket.

To me both Vancouver and Winnipeg are playing with house money I know nobody had the Canucks doing what they're doing but honestly outside of jets fans who had the Winnipeg Jets doing what they are I love it and even being from Minnesota and this would probably be what tv networks wouldn't wanna see but I'd be all for a Jets vs Canucks western conference final
