And the notch above SUPERSTAR is GENERATIONAL and we all know who they are in any sport... I feel those who so easily call Giroux a SUPERSTAR never really saw Lindros play and since the Flyers have lacked talent for 25 years, Giroux was the closest thing they've witnessed to being any type of star in hockey so therefore in their eyes he's a SUPERSTAR... Pertaining to Michkov, his ceiling MUST be higher than Giroux's in order for them to ever hope of winning their first cup in 50 years!!!

Detroit were not in a position to draft either. I am calling BS on this since it is based on the fact that none of the draft picks that were selected before Michkov and Demidov were traded during or right before the draft. Trades are a two way negotiated effort. Similar to all the ridiculous trades that people put online that no GM would ever be able to make.

Habs fan here. have faith Michkov is going to be an all star in the future. There are many teams ATM that are dominating the NHL, but these teams are getting much older now. by the time Philly {and Montreal } are back in contention the standing are going to look a lot different. the nly thing Philly really needs is one more top end pick to compliment Michkov. The no 1 pick this year would be a perfect fit in my opinion. seems to be a generational player.

Definitely excited as a Flyers fan to have a true superstar talent on the roster. And with goalscoring being a big issue for the Flyers last season I’m definitely hoping for him to do what he can to increase the teams goalscoring as a whole. Can definitely play physical and doesn’t mind being near the crease which I hope Torts will appreciate. Will be fun to see how their two personalities will work with each other. Interesting video. Some over at Flyers Nation have discussed the potential for MM and Torts to lock horns because Torts wants defensively involved, aggressive forwards but others have said that they both want to win so badly that they may mesh well. I think all Flyers fans agree that some exciting hockey will get played in Philly this season.

Very good video. You're on point with his game. Some context to his analytics in his D+1 season compared to his DY with Sochi: He was suffering through pneumonia for most of the season. It visibly lingered, and made him reluctant to make explosive movements. He missed a month of action for it. But before that month long stretch, he was scratched here and there mysteriously for "illness." The only parts of the season I can confidently say he was healthy was the beginning and the end. I think that impacted his Corsi % dramatically, and it took a tole on his manually tracked microstats from Elite Prospects. Particularly on his work in transition. But it tells you how gifted of a hockey thinker he is that he managed to mask this deficiency with incredible offensive positioning, unbelievably deft touch on his passes and around the net, as well as masterful deception around the net. I think you covered the "attitude issues" very fairly. We obviously can't know. From where I sit, though, he looks like a really affable and fun-loving kid in camp. But Egor Zamula, Flyers defenseman and Michkov roommate, has zero questions about where these rumors got started: He's competitive as hell, and he allows that to boil over sometimes.

I feel like in terms of offensive power, he might be a little superior to Demidov, but I feel like on the long run, Demidov will be known as a more complete and useful player to his team as a whole. I'm comparing both since they're the top two russian players that were recently drafted higher than what was predicted by many. Also, from what we hear here and there, Demidov has a way better attitude.

I believe we have yet to see the real Michkov. For sure a great talent. That said his team in Russia from St. Petersburg, SKA is one of the top franchises in the KHL. Why did they keep Michkov from playing for their top KHL team? Although he did get a few preseason games the past 2 yrs, they loaned him out two yrs in a row to a bottom KHL team Sochi. This is the big question? However with the year younger Ivan Demidov SKA have kept him within their organization and he is not only playing for the top team but after 5 season games this yr he is a big part of a highly stacked team of ex NHLers. So what does SKA know that we dont with Michkov? Why would they loan out a player that should of helped them be a better team? The usual KHL teams dont favour young players seems to not be the case with 18 yr old Demidov dazzling the SKA home fans this season.........

Michkov played 30 KHL games and produced in his draft year, Demidov played 4 KHL games in his draft year, with no points. Demidov now in his draft+1 season has 5 games with 2 points, Michkov produced at a higher rate in his draft year while being a year younger and on a much worse team. The scouting blurbs on the stat websites talk about Michkovs overall skill, his generational hockey IQ, and his tireless work ethic and drive to win, while Demidovs blurbs are all about his hands. This is why Michkov is talked about as a generational talent(100+ point player) while Demidov is looking more like a Nikolai Zherdev type(60+ point player with fancy hands) to actual hockey scouts outside of MTL. Mtl fans are going to crush the kid with their outlandish expectations for him.

@@LarryLevantine Its easy to put up points on a bottom feeder team (Sochi) where you can cheat a lot on ice, get PP1 time and stay on the ice for 1-2 minutes longer than your expected shift time w/o repercussions. In the 4 games Demidov played in his draft year as a limiter, where he shared the 13th forward role w/ Michkov neither of them produced, he was basically playing 6 minutes a night in a pro league before he got injured and sent down after an impressive PPG preseason. As for this season, Demidov could easily be at or above a PPG with the chances hes created for his teammates and how unlucky hes been, and its understandable that he'd have a slow start off the back of a major injury adjusting to new linemates. And no Demidov isnt only a hands guy, although its one of his best attributes, he possesses elite hockey IQ and the same skill, tireless work ethic & drive to win as michkov but is more of a play maker/play driver who sees the ice well & is taking strides in playing a complete game, his shot is also above average and improving but he finishes chances in more ways. You seem like a heavy stats guy so I'm not surprised you rate the two players in this way, but as someone who has watched the both of them for years this assessment is wrong and idk what scout guide you're buying but demidov is/was highly touted by scouts across the NHL, not just in Montreal, before and after the draft. The game will reveal everything.
