That bonus clip. Thank you. Stayed up so late here in Finland just to watch that game and oh boy was it ever worth it. Great video! Now the stick breaking on a one timer does indeed suck but its more understandable i guess right? some are really badly timed of course. but i feel the worse stick breaks is liek the Letang one where his stick explodes or guy in defensive zone tries to clear the puck and stick snaps.. or when your Skinner and you lose your stick .... what when having a golden chance to score.... that was maybe most unfortunate considering he really could've used a nice goal.

Olympic final in Turin 2006. Saku Koivu's stick broke at the third period opening face-off. He has to go for another stick. Game is tied. Forsberg enters the zone, pass to Sundin, who passes to Lidström who scores the game winning goal. That's a bad one too. How do I know this is a bad one? Well, it's a 100% chance that Koivu would have defended Lidström. Also, the Letang one is a double whammy. He broke another stick prior in the game.

I kinda wonder if NHL players should start using old school wooden sticks when on penalty kill. The fact that they are worse for puck handling and shooting isn't that much of an issue on the PK and the one thing the wooden stick is better at, they don't break, is actually kind of a big benefit, broken stick on PK is pretty much a a guaranteed goal for the power play. Also as the rules get more lax on the PK, the cross checks in front of the net and in the corners would really hurt quit a lot more.
