Maybe it's the goalie in me who has had a similar experience, but here's my take (because I'm sooo important lmao): good goal, even though it's not fair. Let me explain: I don't actually see Ritchie touch the puck, but even if he does, Mrazek has his glove over the puck for maybe a second, so it's not a hand pass. It is not goalie interference because Bjork is going for the puck, and I understand that the play wasn't blown dead because, as I said, Mrazek has his glove over the puck for maybe a second, probably less. Should it be blown dead as soon as the goalie has it? I think so, but the refs didn't have a quick whistle and players don't stop playing until the whistle blows. It really sucks for Mrazek and even as a Bruins fan I feel for him, but it is a goal.
@huevoosranchero4 жыл бұрын
I don't see this as a not a quick enough whistle, as we've seen over the years the "intent to blow the whistle". The refs in my opinion flat out missed him having his glove on the puck until the review and its literally the NHL way to make an excuse instead of just admitting that it was a missed call especially since they say the goalie had control (covered in this case) then, it literally should've been a no goal. I don't care about either team in this series but thats just my take on it.

Let's be honest here mrazek covered the puck and instead of looking to see if any other bruins players are in the area of play he non-chalantly throws the puck back into play and the puck lands on coyle's stick and coyle puts the puck in the net mrazek basically just gave a freebie
@VoIcanoman4 жыл бұрын
@@mikebarber12 Yeah, he non-chalantly threw the puck back into play with the added assistance of not one but TWO Bruins sticks pushing on it. And not to put too fine a point on it, but this is CLEARLY defined as interference with the goalkeeper in rule 69.1: "Goals should be disallowed if...(2) an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, _provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact_ * ....For purposes of this rule, “contact,” whether incidental or otherwise, shall mean any contact that is made between or among a goalkeeper and attacking player(s), whether by means of a stick or any part of the body." *Those Bruins were not trying to avoid contact, they were pushing on that glove with their sticks like their lives depended on it. So even if you want to say that Mrazek was out of his crease at this point in time (he really wasn't...he was mostly IN the crease when he covered the puck), the contact was illegal. This was a mistake, and the NHL should own up to it. Who do they think they're fooling with this crap? The fans have known for DECADES that referees frequently F up, but it's a REALLY rare occasion (I think I've seen it twice in my life) when the NHL actually admits it.
@LetsGoFlyers20114 жыл бұрын

As a Canes fan, I'm not mad about games one or two in the CAR/BOS series. Both coach's challenges were absolute garbage, but the Canes scored shorthanded on the penalty for DoG, cancelling out the awarded goal, and they won game two. Yes, I wish the refs were better, but I'm not mad at this exact moment. Tom Dundon, the Canes owner, paid Rod's entire $25k fine. The final check came to $25,017, the extra $17 is because Rod's old number (that's hanging from the ceiling at PNC Arena in Raleigh) was 17. This shows that Dundon has Rod's back (which is a good thing to do when he's right).

Yikes, Steve. As a Wild fan, don't try and tell me that they don't contribute anything... 1) They bolster my local liquor store's Powers whiskey sales 2) They always finish near the upper middle and vault whomever plays them in the first round of the playoffs a pretty easy road ahead. 3) They provide one of the most welcoming and luxurious arenas for visiting fans. 4) They consistently break the hearts of the Avalanche faithful/arrogant. 5) They're never bad enough to snag a top-flight talent in the draft. 6) Last but not least, in 2012 they taught the rest of the league the perils of front-loading so much of the salary cap into a small number of its "stars." That move completely hamstrung the team for nearly a decade and they may never climb out of the doldrums until those guys retire. Well, they taught every team except the Maple Leafs, it seems. So, I guess maybe their latest contribution is to keep the Leafs' cupless streak alive and save Lafrenier from being grossly underutilized in the talent-bomb that is Toronto. Just speaking out of my ass here, but isn't it unfair that a team can take a penalty at the end of the 3rd and dump the puck with freedom of the icing call when winning? Imagine it, you're down one point, you get an extra attacker out there, but now that you're on a power play the other 4 players can constantly shoot at the empty net from anywhere on the ice... it's a boon for a penalty... that shouldn't happen... they should call the Icings if a penalty lasts until the end of the third (for the winning team only) either that or they should give extended time in the third period to the losing team if the winning team has a penalty that lasts longer than the time remaining.

I would say for the Carolina dang it: The ref's call was good goal so it should not be up to the ref to tell the coach what to challenge. Of course the fact that after the review the ref basically comes on the mic and says (I paraphrase) "There was no goal because the goalie covered the puck but because you challenged the wrong thing the call on the ice, which was wrong, stands and you get two minutes for delay of game." is absolutely ridiculous.

I think that "hand pass" was a goal because it's not a pass unless it goes directly to one of your players. It wasn't a Sharks level hand pass. The pass was intercepted, therefore, wasn't a completed pass.

It doesn’t matter if it got intercepted it’s still a hand pass.

@@nicraider233 So if someone passes the puck and it gets intercepted, but its stolen right back. Is that a completed pass?

That’s not what happened

Coyle's "goal" was an absolutely pathetic call. The NHL and their officials showed their ineptitude. 2 solid reasons to waive it off but somehow they added -1 and -1 and ended up with +1. Absolute idiocy no matter how you look at it.
