Forsberg and Sakic are one of the greatest duos of centers of all time. They were both ultra-talented, they were both elite playmakers that made their teammates better, they were both leaders, and they were both great examples off the ice. Seeing them play, you knew that you were watching something special.

As an Avs fan during that time, we were so spoiled. You had the speed and snipes from Sakic, and then Forsberg would go out and just bulldoze people while making uncanny passes. @@kjguitarman Yup. That’s exactly how it was. I’m from Chicago and come from a history of Blackhawk fans-so naturally I was too. But I became an Avalanche fan as soon as I saw him. There’s just never been another player like him. “What is he going to do to us now” is a perfect way to describe him. He literally did everything. He was like: if you built a player in a lab, that had Gretzky’s playmaking, passing ability, and intelligence - With Lemieux’s talent … And made it so that he was also the best defensive player in the world, and the best hitter in the world. It’s crazy just thinking about how great he was. I really hope someone comes along that plays the way he did. Crosby is *really* close, but he’s definitely not the hitter or defensive player that Forsberg was.

I mean, same could be said about guys like Bure, Lindros and Orr. Injuries take people out of the game, and their legacies go with them. That being said, even if he played a full career, he isn’t top 5 imo. Gretzky, Lemieux, Howe, Sakic, Yzerman are all better.

There have been great goal scorers and extremely talented players: Lemieux, Bossy, Ovechkin, Bure, Hull, Kovalev, Kovalchuk … There have been great playmakers: Gretzky, Oates, Thornton … There have been great playmakers that could also score: Gretzky, Mario, Crosby … There have been great offensive players who were also great defensively: Yzerman, Datsyuk, Federov … There have been great offensive players who were great hitters: Lindros, Ovechkin, Reonick … There’s never been a player that was all of those things-combined. Except Peter Forsberg On top of that - There’s never been another player who was the best playmaker in the league, the best/most talented offensive player, the best defensive player, and also one of the best hitters. Forsberg wasn’t just a great offensive and defensive player-He was the best in the league, at both. He was also the best clutch player, the most intelligent, and one of the best hitters. As a big Red Wings fan I was always terrified of Forsberg. The only swedish player that was better was Lidstrom which says a lot.

Anyway I will take Forsberg over Lidstrom.Any coach or gen.meneger will pick super forward over super defender
@jona.scholt43623 жыл бұрын
@@gialeviashvili6328 I see your point but Lidstrom is, at worst, the second or maybe third best defenseman of all-time. The only ones mentioned with him for all time greatest defenseman are Bobby Orr and sometimes Ray Borque. Though Forsberg was very very good I don't think people are putting him in such exalted company. Even if we account for the importance of forwards over defenseman Lidstrom's all-time, generational ability still outweighs Forsberg's.
