nope nitro cars will we get a revamp and they’ll extend the wnd lengths of tracks so the 1/4 can be ran again. Fastest driver in history is Sammy Miller, it would be disrespectful to put him and Brittany in the same category. His record are untouchable as hydro jet cars are banned from all strips

The cars sound like machine guns. When I filmed a few races years ago, my phone's microphone couldn't even capture the idle engine properly. Talking to some of the mechanics was also insane. Didn't even know 0-60 times in under a second were possible before.

Nobody tunes a Top Fuel engine like Dave Grubnik. Speed comes from horsepower, and he routinely tunes Brittany's car for the highest speeds ever seen in the class. You can finesse ET, but not horsepower. Well done Dave!

In terms of speed, to see David Grubnic tune a dragster to those speeds is incredible, especially considering the gear ratios. All the accolades go to those with wrenches in their hand, not the ignition keys.

Seeing these cars perform on video is about 0.1% of the experience. In person is where you get the other 99.9%. If you can at least once in your life, go to a live race. It is crazy intense.

@@rickysmyth I'm not even interested in drag racing. I was taken to a race when I was a bit younger and was amazed by the power of these machines. The loudness and intensity when they launch is wild. Very cool experience in person, pretty boring otherwise.

They shortened the race length years back after the death of Scott Kalitta. They were running faster and faster and it became too dangerous. 338 mph really fast.

and for reference to Dean's comment, in the late 60's the fastest cars in top fuel would run sub 6 seconds at something just over 200 mph in a 1/4 mile (1320 feet). here they're running 3.6 seconds at 338+ mph in 1000 ft.

The engineering is so INSANE that every single one of these runs were within *_ONE_* mph of each other. These races are all won by literally *fractions* of 1mph. I bet that at this level of engineering, the condition, elevation, and slope of track itself plays a part in the outcome.

Its got me stumped how a driver can think and react that fast ? They are litteraly the fastest pèople on the planet no holes barred, more G's than a fighter jet and way faster when it comes to acceleration, absolutely amazing, I've seen a couple of funny cares once, and the sound and the atmosphere was electric, my heart was racing it was so exciting, I really hope to see the Top Fuelers one day

297mph in the 1/8th 660ft and only gained 41mph at 1000ft. What am I missing? I would think the top end would be greater with 340 ft left.

That must be the stopping distance. There's something weird going on. Wonder how the top end looks at say.. 5 miles? With about the same stopping distance too. Engine would be short-lived if not detuned. But where is the fun in that?

They let off the throttle shortly after the 1/8 mile mark. A lot of times they don't go full throttle the entire way. Many times the engine doesn't even survive the entire 1/4 mile.

Drag and the fact that you need exponentially more energy for every mph/kph you want to hit. Maybe they also let go off the throttle a bit near the end, I don't know. I know far more about physics than drag racing.

It depends upon the stopping distance at the track itself. They can stop hard on the brakes and stop safely at some tracks.when everything fails,they go into a sand trap to slow them down ,then a safety net.
