3:31:00 I love spinning bots, especially if they use the whole weight of the bot towards the weapon. It's tough, though. You need some real separation from the weapon and body somehow or the forces will eat up your bot, and your shell will fly off.

i came up with interesting idea for spinners, why not use compressed gas to make the spinner move? this way you don't have to worry about motor, belt or chain breaking. compressed gas has some serious power. you can have a small compressed air or other gas tank with focused nozzle and spinner should have a small area that is kind of like a fan, so it will really speed up. it should be enough to make it spin as fast as motor-spinners, maybe even faster.

i keep thinking, why doesn't anyone make a spinner that has torque AND speed? you could have twin-motors or basic gearbox to achieve this. kind of same principle as hybrid cars, they use electric to start moving from stand still to save fuel, which gives really good acceleration and torque and after certain speed petrol engine takes over. only in bots both would be electric motors. use hub motors that are attached to eachother. one just lightweight for torque and other for speed. torque motor will turn off to save power after it reaches certain speed. hard to explain, but anyone with common sense should get my point. i'm not sure if gearbox would work, cuz there's too much that can go wrong, belts / chains can nudge off or the gearbox itself can break or something, but i have really good idea how to make it. similar to what bicycles use, but instead of chain moving, the gears would move. a small piston can push/pull the gears to change between torque / speed. WHY would anyone want this? because this way if weapon gets jammed or you get stuck, you can put it onto torque mode and bruteforce it. somewhere around hour 8 one bot got stuck on its face and their weapon didn't have enough torque to move it back on wheels, that's one situation where it comes in handy.

IDEA: add danger zones into the mix, this will make it more interesting and control bots will become more effective. in one corner there's house bot and if you push your opponent into the house bot (not a random flip, but controlled push), then house bot will attack the pushed bot for 10 seconds. in other corner, there should be random hazard, it could be some kind of a grinder, hammer, hammer-saw, powerful flipper, flamethrower, blowtorch ...etc, so if you push your opponent into it, then hazard becomes active. if some bots randomly bounce around due gyroscoping movement or because of their weapon, then this doesn't count and hazard won't activate. it should only activate if one bot pushes other one into it by using control, not random flips or throws. kind of like a pin, but you push them into the hazard. this would be so much more fun and control bots would make more sense.

I wish these competitions would get rid of the no wedge bot rule. It severely benefits spinners, and hinders all the unique bots that can do a lot better vs a wedge. Spinners are fun but it is no fun seeing them 90% of the time.

i don't understand why there are so many dummies who make their bots so TWITCHY that it becomes impossible to control? it's like in online games .. all people do is RUSH, they think faster is better ... but they don't have enough brain to self-analyze and notice that faster is NOT better. stop putting so powerful motors or change gear ratio. make bots slower and more stable. control always wins over speed. i see SO MANY bots that just twitch around entire match and can't even get 1 hit due control issues. or maybe they're just bashing buttons and have no idea how to control a bot .. go figure. probably both. it's shocking how they manage to build a bot, but have no idea how to control them.
