I still gotta find that perfect medium. I've skated tight trucks all my life, and only recently tried loosening my trucks. It felt so great skating at the park but setting up for tricks going fast to a euro gap was difficult. Either I gotta keep pushin and learning or try to find a happy medium. I don't wanna loose that flow though. Skating loose felt too amazing to give up

My son and I one day called it the Daewon challenge. We removed our top bushings and threw the washer on top. We thought it was gonna be insane but we now only ride that way. If you don't mind them, risers are helpful if you want a lil less wheel bite.

Nice straightfoward video. I've just bought a nice new skateboard - I'm 63 years young (!) - and found I couldn't turn as easily as I did on an old crummy skateboard I found years ago - so seems I need to loosen the trucks a bit (trial and error, I guess).

First time longboarder here. My longboard trucks were too loose from the factory and I thought my longboard was defective! Nevertheless, thanks to your video, I tightened my trucks a little bit and I feel more stable. I only use my longboard to commute on a flat bike path and keep my trucks a bit tight.
@BRZguy3 жыл бұрын
I started out with them fairly loose (only like a fingers width gap between the wheels and board at full lean) and loved how it felt, But I noticed that I wasn't very comfortable skating at moderate speeds and I could only really ollie with like a single good push on the ground. I tightened my trucks so like two threads are showing and immediately it felt a lot more stable and I could ollie at a bit faster speeds. On the other hand, my treflip attempts got much worse since you lose a lot of the scoop with tighter trucks.
@NHSSkateDirect3 жыл бұрын
Nice! Sounds like you're figuring out what works best for you and for what tricks. Also, you can always change it up. I know I've gone from really loose back to medium tight and back over the years.
@BRZguy3 жыл бұрын
@@NHSSkateDirect Funnily enough I actually just went back to loose and it's been a lot more fun for me. I feel like the board responds to my feet much more with loose trucks so if I know I pop well, I'm going to land it. I definitely think that loose looks a lot better style wise.

Thunder 147 lights on a Indy titanium baseplate is the best truck I've ridden by far for me. Keeps the Wheelbase almost the same, got the perfect in between height and the nice baseplate slide of an indy with the responsive and fast popping feel if a thunder. I don't know why not more people do it but it kinda eliminates the weaknesses of both trucks and only keeps the good things about them.

Cool vid. Bio Bob said loose trucks rule. Just weight on your front foot more to ride through speed wobbles. What he says still goes in my book. Same on my street luge back when I had one. Indys on any stand up board (street, park, pool, or downhill). Randals on the luge. Indys would be fine on luge too, but I got the Randals with it. Left it like I got it. They worked killer. I just rode for fun.

imo loose trucks obviously better for turning but for doing tricks, especially starting out, tighter trucks help you land tricks easier cuz you dont gotta balance so much after the landing. when my trucks are too loose, i lose balance as i land cuz i land leaning too much to one side. til you get better foot placement and balance, tighter trucks makes landing those tricks easier. also its hard to push for more speed on loose trucks cuz u gotta put extra energy keeping balance and staying straight.

Hey NHS or anyone, are you more likely to get wheel bite with your trucks a little wider than the board or a little narrower?
@NHSSkateDirect3 жыл бұрын
Great question. It partly depends on the deck. If it has a lot of concave and your trucks are wider you won't wheelbite as easily since the edges of the deck are further away from the wheels. If the deck doesn't have a lot of concave then or the trucks are only slightly different in size it doesn't make too much of a difference.
