You can have that happen by having a full Immolation on the blades, permafrost on the axe, or Maelstrom charge for the spear. And not activating it, this will give your weapons the glowing effect you see here. OR equip the Guiding Light BreastPlate with high luck stats and youll get a blessing on one of your weapons for an extended amount of time which makes your weapon glow as well

That’s crazy to think about cause I beat every single god of war game what I’ve noticed in comparison from young kratos to old kratos is even though young kratos was always fighting in a drunken rage a sort of berserk state he was still kind of technical with his fighting prowess that must come from leading thousands upon thousands of Spartans into battles that he was in the thick of probably like 99% of the time {Most likely 100% lol} now imagine a older wiser & more experienced kratos that has hundreds to thousands of years of combat experience versus mortals monsters & different deities imagine he built all that experience with those divine weapons & artifacts he had to run like the flash with the boots of Hermes counter attacks with the fleece & fly with the wings & all sorts of other weapons he had in his arsenal all that experience know what to use & when the fights would have been different different except maybe for Odin cause man’s had hacks {aka powerful ass spells} but other then him I think he would of had somethin for anybody Odin would throw at him maybe that’s just an observation of mine

Kratos himself wrote in his diary that Thor's power was greater than anything he had met before, and as shown, Thor is clearly stronger than all the Greek gods, except perhaps Zeus, and in the game itself we see more than once that Thor surpasses Kratos in purely physical strength, so even young Kratos wouldn't have it easy with Thor

Kratos in ragnorak is the strongest he has ever been. The reason they "did him dirty" is because again. He was holding back a ton. He was being rusted down by fimbulwinter, and he didn't even want to fight. Kratos is at his lowest point in the beginning of ragnorak, his mental state effects his physical prowess, hence why when he had a reason to fight "the all father has plans for him" Kratos lashed out of protection for his son. Which nearly knocked thor out, and knocked out his tooth, the fight went that way from a story standpoint

To be fair, in the first fight with Thor, Kratos is facing a weapon like Mjolnir for the first time and he doesn’t know all the tricks and abilities it grants Thor. So for a first blind run so the fight, Kratos does pretty good. And remember, this Kratos was holding back. You can tell this through the fact that he is actually talking with Thor and having dialogue with him even as they brawl. He is trying to convince Thor that “his sons struck first” or “Baldur was the one seeking the fight that killed him”. And the second fight is probably where Kratos shines the most. First, he is the most mentally sound he’s been and prepared for war as the general of the Nine Realm army. He is still holding back, and Id argue he is holding back more than his first fight with Thor because Kratos is trying to convince Thor that they don’t have to be destroyers they need to be better. Having Kratos actually talk during certain fights is such an awesome and subtle story choice to show what battles he’s holding back (Thor fights) and the fights he’s laser focused on killing his foe (no talking or minimum talking to his foes for Odin fights, Heimdall fight). And this being said, Kratos is still holding back and he still adapts to fighting against Mjolnir. In the first fight, he gets blindsided by Mjolnir, in fight two he dodges the attack and grabs hold of it to make sure it doesn’t sucker punch him. He is using his Blades to manipulate Mjolnir and toss it back at Thor even. I don’t wanna say they did him dirty, I think it’s more showing that Kratos isn’t trying to become that God of War again that would brutalize a god and steal his weapon. Kratos did this throughout God of War 3, where he is at his lowest point mental, he destroyed the world in that state, and he ended up trying to off himself to release Hope back into the world. He was struggling the entire game to not become that god again, and we see him become that temporary when he kills Heimdall and takes his sword and Gjallahorn. Kratos didn’t want to do that to Thor if he could avoid it, and he gave him as many chances as possible to stand down. Still makes me sad that Odin robbed Thor of the chance to be better there.
