Some food 4 thought, what you said. Though I don't believe in fate or destiny, from my personal experience I have found that there's a certain force which guides human lives. It's not God, because he would not discriminate among his own peers. So, one can give it the best shot, but it will be better to keep the fingers crossed regarding the ev. outcome.
