I noticed when ever you are drivng in the center of both lanes in a narrow road where cars are parked you signalled crossing to the other lane even though there was no car coming ahead and behind.

Indicators are there to inform people in parked vehicles and vehicles that could emerge from junctions, not just for following vehicles .
