In many ways, the 2 sides being so different is very good, they complement each other to make a great experience by visiting both. The video here failed to show the extent of the park on the US side, it is quite large, and the extreme proximity to the upper river and falls and the extensive trails I think are the highlights. Clearly the Canadian side has the best falls view. But overall I credit the Canadian side because their landscaping along the gorge is outstanding and clearly it is cleaner, better and more consistently planned (loads of tacky attractions but well organized, fun, and clean). The downtown of the US side is a disaster, creepy, bizarre, and without any organization, planning, or theme unlike the Canadian side. I think the US side could use improved landscaping (flowers, greenery) and needs to decide what it wants its downtown to be... and probably should be something not offered on the Canadian side.

Living in Toronto I have been to Niagara Falls many times. As a kid it was to see the falls as I got into early 20s friends and I would go to the casino and wander around for something to do. Or it was a good quick weekend away with the girlfriend. It has been a while so some things may have changed (but I doubt a lot has) so it all depends what you want to see or do. Overall however if possible you should see both sides because they compliment each other: 1- as he mentions at 3:52 the Canadian side has "better" panoramic type of views. You can see the entire Horseshoe falls, you can see the entire American falls, you can see long stretches of the river to the Rainbow bridge etc. 2- American side has better close up views. There are a few places on the Canadian side that are close to the edge of the falls. However on the American side there are a few really good spots close to the edges and they have bridges connecting the islands that go over the river so you really have a good sense of how fast and powerful the water really is (yes there are spots along the Canadian side that have similar views but nothing compares to the sensation of standing on a small bridge over that amount of fast powerful water a few feet from the edge) 3- If you are looking for tourist things to do then Canadian side is better. Canadian side is like a little Las Vegas or all tourism in the "downtown" part of the city. And all up and down the river there are things to do (Flower Clock, rapids boat, whirlpool, cable car over the whirlpool, views into the US etc). Last time I was on the US side everything ends pretty abruptly after Niagara Falls Park. Beyond the park it becomes a standard US city with old houses and factories, the usual run down brick and concrete. However I do back track on my comment because it has been a while since I have been on that side. I know the Casino opened and there may be some more tourist attractions but it wasn't the same as the Canadian side. Overall I would recommend stay on the Canadian side and take in all the views and tourist attractions (couple of days) then plan for one day to spend on the American side to take in the close up views and walk the trail over the bridges connecting the islands to take in the river

I'm an explorer from Toronto Canada, and I've watched both of your video regarding to the different sides of the fall from both countries, I've been on the American side quite often, and I honestly can't choose which is better, I must say that both sides is nice in their own unique ways, us as Canadians think that our side is better, which I'm tossed up about that, the American side is very beautiful as well, they also have a casino with even better and cheaper prices for the buffet and restaurants, they have hotels also, they have an aquarium / zoo over there, they have a long stretch of parks from either sides of the rainbow bridge, you can walk along the river to see where the body of water is coming from, such spectacular experience , you can visit all the different channels to see the river splits and branches off in their own rivers, the goat island is also big to explore, and there are so much more to explore over there, which you need at least three days to get a really good drift of the American side, thanks for sharing.👍 💕

Never been to either but based on your video, I prefer the US side because of the closer to falls and its raging waters and that you would really feel the closeness to the falls. The Canadian side on the other hand just gives you a different perspective of the falls because it’s farther to the raging waters. I believe one is not better than the other. It’s just depends on one’s preference or perspective.

Truthfully, we have Journey Behind the Falls. You can stand on a protruding platform at your leisure and be almost touching the Falls. That’s pretty darn close. You actually get soaked if you stand at the edge. Just standing at the railing; above, is mesmerizing and honestly breathtaking. Pls try and go! You won’t regret seeing it’s beauty in person. Far better than just a video or picture.❤️

As a Niagara Falls purist, I have a little disdain for the Canadian side. Not that I haven’t enjoyed it many times, but there is SO much to do that the falls seems like an afterthought. To simply experience the grandeur that is Niagara, I appreciate the American side. If you had kept walking past Terrapin Point to the far side of Goat Island you would have discovered Three Sisters Island, offering a stellar view of the upper rapids.

I totally understand what you are saying. First time i went to Niagara Falls i was 11 or 12 so naturally I liked Canadian side better. Having just gone back at 36 in May the American side is better as far as Falls related activites. Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds is superior to Journey Behind the Falls in my opinion. Goat island is really cool.
@rich1051414
@rich1051414 Жыл бұрын
@@Esmeralda-gt6uf It's mostly because of limited tourist attractions in Canada, that they kind of focus too heavy on the ones they have to the point of overdoing it a bit. Niagara falls is not one of the most popular attractions in the US, so it gets less attention. With it being right on the border, internationally, Niagara falls is generally regarded as a Canadian attraction, and not even thought of as an American attraction. So few international tourists visiting America even consider it unless they are also going to see Canada. It is what it is.

Cave of the winds is different from behind the falls. Also devils hole and whirlpool Rapids are awesome to see. Americans side is more experiencing nature and hiking in, around and down the falls. Canadian side has the best views of the Horseshoe Falls and the Aero car. But it’s also a tourist trap. They are both great, it depends on how people want to experience Niagara Falls. We went to the Canadian side and without a doubt you are correct! This was 5 years ago and where we were staying had an IHOP inside. When we checked in we received a $10 off coupon for breakfast. That seemed pretty good until we got the check for our meal! The 2 of us each 2 eggs toast bacon and coffee. Each breakfast was over $25! The eggs must have been from the Golden Goose being so expensive! Where we stayed was in the area of casino next to the tower that you showed. We had the buffet and thought it wasn't the best but ok. Breakfast buffet there was $13. I'm sure that the buffet was better than the IHOP! We're 9 hours from the falls and the first time there. Beautiful

The Canadian side is much more developed with better views and more to do. The American side is quieter with many many areas to enjoy nature. The determining factor for me are the casinos. The American casino is better than the Canadian casino in every way, the atmosphere, the games, the food, even the resorts hotel suites are nicer. I didn't know what I was missing as a Canadian until a few weeks ago when I decided to cross over and try something new. Been here a few weeks now and l have not even thought about going back yet. Stay in Canada , but be like a local for hotels and restaurants , get as war away from the falls as possible , it will be cheaper , stay on Lundy's Lane but as far from the falls as possible . The main non tourist area north of Niagara Falls close to the train and bus stations is a little run down due to economic conditions . The U.S. side is very nice , close to the falls , when you get a few blocks away from the falls in the U.S. ,it becomes a huge run down slum .

Thank you for this video. I’ve always wanted to see Niagra Falls since I saw Superman II as a kid. I always heard the Canadian side was better, but after watching this, I think they probably filmed on the American side, considering what happened in that movie. But this was really great! I always love your videos. Hope you’re back in Vegas in Feb when me and my mom go.

They filmed in 1979 at Table Rock House on the Canadian side....right at the crest of the Horseshoe Falls in NIAGARA Falls, Canada.

on the american side you have the maid of the mist and the cave of the winds and some amazing scenery on goat island, i also think it has better up close views of both falls. also the aquarium is cool. But the canadian side is still better as it has the hornblower and their own cave of the winds with behind the falls. The american side has fallsview casino, but the america tourist area pales in comparison to the canadian side. the canadians have gokarts, a water park, plenty of arcades and casinos, some cool museums, canadian midway and all of clifton hill. you just can’t compete with that. but if you prefer the natural part of the falls then go to the american side.

Hey Matthew, Awesome video. Excellent editing job. So go to Niagara Falls on the USA then walking to the Canadian side, do you need a passport to walk to the Canadian side of the Falls???? I know driving over the Peach Bridge is closed since Canada is still on lockdown. Here its May 26, 2021 and Canada is still on lockdown. Anyway, thanks for all you do. I can't wait to hear your answer.

Hey what's the hassle of crossing over from the US to Canada? Any any regulations or documents you have to present to cross the border?

Three falls actually make up the Niagara Falls. The American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls that are on the American side and largest one, the Horseshoe Falls which is maybe mainly 95% on the Canadian side. Most of the water above the falls are actually diverted by both the U.S. and Canada for power generation so what you see flowing over the falls is not even the full power of the Niagara River.

Went there once back in March 2017! Stood exactly where you were standing at 1:32 in the video! But it was cold and rainy so we didnt stay long! Definitely misty, you could see the water drops on your camera! Views were definitely better on the Canadian side! Holy $6 hot dog, better be the best damn hot dog ever!

I always tell people when they say they are going to visit Niagara to do themselves a favor and check it out from the Canadian side too. The view is very limited on the US side. Plus there are a ton of little things to do near the falls on the Canadian side as well.
