I just went on poke go to see how it is. It's not enjoyable to me because of the intense graphics messes with my sensitive eyes. Especially when zooms in after catching a pokemon.

The wider range of customisation options, hair, clothing etc is what we've been wanting for ages - we didn't ask to have the actual long standing make & female avatars to be removed like this. TL/DR New customisation great, more of this plz Niantic ✔️ New singular ??? avatar being the only model option, nahhhh that ain't it chief ❌

Allegedly it's possible that bunkers on golf courses might spawn them as some of these are categorised the same as beaches in the games mapping system. If anyone's near any golf courses, maybe check that out as an option

Yeah this was how it was when we got stuck with testing this starting back in Feb/March down here in NZ - I was relieved they switched it off during the Global Sinnoh Tour weekend. It has gotten better with time, but it's definitely a struggle bus for lower end devices - if you've invested in a hig end device, then you're definitely being rewarded with this update. As for us less financially endowed folks, make sure all the fancy graphic settings are switched off in Advanced settings (probably native refresh rate as well), make sure you download all assets & don't have other apps left open in the back while playing Go - and unless you're expecting relevant notifications/alerts, I'd go ahead & set them to Off/DND or similar

Yep, slap a big a$5 hat, mask & glasses on your noggin, wrap the piggie in some bulky clothes & get outside to check out the new catch screen visuals - if your phone can handle all the new fancy settings & visuals, it's definitely looking worth it - if can get out n play during dusk/evening/night time, then you'll get to see all the different shade/lighting effects as well 👍

My guess is that Niantic pushed this update to reduce the number of people playing on older phones, since the engine maker Unity was talking about charging per-user who downloaded the app

Didn't that whole Unity situation come into effect several months ago already? They're definitely always looking to reduce the number of older devices/Operating Systems they have to cater for, they just covered this one up with a slick looking visuals update

For the first time, same as i kept knocking them when they f0cked up, I acknowledge and congratulate Niantic on the most recent update. Beautiful biomes, beautiful backgrounds and the option to removed enhanced graphics was cherry on top. My game runs smoothly with that option off and my battery doesn't get drained as much.

Go into Advanced Settings & try switching Enhanced Graphics & maybe even Native Refresh Rate off - that's how I run mine & it's mostly lag free. Also while in Advanced Settings make sure to download all the visual assets & maybe refresh game data after that asset download has finished

Does anyone know if the "beach" biome has to be along the ocean shore? Do lakefront areas count? I'm close enough to the east coast that we probably get out to the beaches a couple of times every summer, but could easily get to some lakes any day.

I'm so conflicted because on the one hand I absolutely hate the Avatar update, but on the other hand I think this one is awesome! And to be honest, after playing around with my avatar quite a bit, I managed to make her look somewhat cute with the right clothes 😅 face number one is the least uncanny and closest to the original, And though it's not ideal, keeping the skin tone light makes the face look less deadpan and creepy!

PvP seems to work smoother for me, no weak connections, shadow hits. I know because I just bring level 50 meta relevant team and my ELO was the lowest it's been. Now I'm gaining ELO to my proper level, I think they got the cheaters. Bring meta, blow your whole stardust load--master league is back

Biomes good idea but cause a leg in load up cause 5 -10 sec delay wasn't there before update😢 plus I got a new phone Samsung 23 ultra but battery drain to much way to much to play constantly during a community day or even a show light hour with out needing charge just make playability worse when they already had issues with not anuff revives or needing some items that never come for months (evolution items) causing you to get stuck and absolutely think about why is natinic is failing and money grabbing people.

Biomes are much less enjoyable when I look like dog throw up. Hard to enjoy that pretty stuff when something putrid and ugly looks at me the moment I open the game... Doesn't negate they still need to fix and people shouldn't be like "awww they made better catch screen graphics we can forgive them for that avatar dog poo" NO NO NO NO hold the topic mention in any and every discussion that the avatars look like crap/ugly.
