Nic has been a gifted musician since he was a little kid. I loved playing with him on Phil Collins Not Dead Yet Tour. He nailed it every night and just kept getting better and better as the tour went on. I am so proud of him. Plus he is a GREART GUY!

When I saw him perform at the US Open I started watching for his performances. At the time I could not get over how someone so young could handle the pressure of that venue. I’ve enjoyed watching him mature as a musician and as a man. I’ve put him on my list of “watch this kid grow into himself and his talent” and I share his videos with many people. The fact that a talented musician like yourself recognizes the talent and person speaks volumes.

Remember, it's not just "passed on" without effort. Even talent that comes natural takes discipline and commitment. He's done a great job sticking with drums to the point where he's a REAL drummer, not just "the apple that fell from the tree!"

Bravo à Nic qui s'améliore chaque jour... ! From Paris, Luv.

I’m sure it helps when your father is one of the greatest all around drummers to ever live. Very talented young man right here. Hearing him play some of those classic Genesis songs and not being able to tell the difference between him and Phil is probably one of the biggest compliments I can pay this kid.

There's a documentary in which Gay Mercader (legendary spanish promoter) explains that in 2004, when Phil Collins performed for the last time in Barcelona, he headed of to the backstage an hour before the show and before opening the door he could hear someone playing the drums really well and thought it was Phil rehearsing before the show. He knocked the door but it was Phil who opened...and the sound of that drum was still there. At the end of the room Mercader barely saw a four or five year old kid behind custom drums playing and Mercader was absolutely lost for words watching what Phil Collins son was doing. That kid was Nic.

Nic is a fantastic drummer. I will add this remark as a long time drummer and drum teacher. Nic has taken “genetic” talent, and then over the last 5 or so year’s, honed his craft. Whether with a teacher, or self-education, now plays with a fluency and intricate ability that’s astonishing. His Drumeo session’s covering Genesis era tune’s is a true testament to his abilities and to his growth as a musician. I admire Nic a great deal. Bravo ❤
@blastfromthepast8344
@blastfromthepast8344 Жыл бұрын
Genetic talent is, of course, one way of putting it. One could also add that he's taken his dad's name and his ability to open doors which, to many drummers, would remain closed. Plenty of people have talent... not everyone has a multi-millionaire, famous drummer/composer/singer/actor as a dad! I wonder which of these helped him the most...?
@Vitoko1998
@Vitoko1998 Жыл бұрын
@@blastfromthepast8344 You're absolutely right, I'm fans of Phil, Genesis, Mike... but the fact that he included Nic as a drummer on his solo tour, genesis and now "mike and the mechanics" is clearly a way of giving him an artistic lift, which did not happen with Simon. Something similar happened with Lily.

Guy's got talent, talent I wish I had the opportunity to express and while woodwinds take talent, to me, it's always the drumline that got me. The beat, rhythm, the percussion
