Nice film about Jotul 602 Classic Renovating.

A new clip of this robust and well proven to be effective and good, Norwegian Jotul 602 Classic. Came on marked in mid 1930 and is the most sold and copied box stove in the world. Not difficult to restore. Check carefully for cracks before starting the work. A 50 year old stove or older or newer, can have cracks in the plates and the weak part is most commonly the back plate. Inner fire plates or protection plates...can have cracks...and that does not matter...as long as they are straight and bits not fallen apart from them. It gives aproxamatly 7kw heat...and good for at least 100 square mtrs. living room ! Cast iron stoves is a hugh/ big tradition in Norway and in the past there was many fabrics doing cast iron stoves in all kinds of fashion and sizes. Now...not so many... But the first and mayby biggest...in middle of Norway... Ulefos Jernverk...started in the 1750 ca... and are still operating. A cast iron stove has traditionally been the main source for heating the houses in Norway. Many of them is impressive good, and many really beautiful to look at. Many houses had stoves in almost every room...back than.

This stove type came on market mid 1930. The old ones has not....what you mention there...but the new version from 1997 and above...does have what you mention and than other burn plate patent.

@@motordiverse1276 I have the same Jotul 602, with the round opening. I have a few questions: 1. Did you work on the chiped enamel? Was that simply rust dissolver you applied? 2. What product did you use to caulk the seams? Thanks for a very nice video.

@@williamkearney1279 Hey ! Chiped enamel ? This stove I tghink is naked cast iron with rust. I brush it with hand brush and electrical powertools...steel brushers. No chemical rust remover. Stove cement for the joints.
