“The Safety Whistle” is the ultimate every day carry smoking pipe... crafted from commercially pure titanium, it sits somewhere between a one hitter and a session bowl.
This piece is the brain child of Archie Ofenstein, owner & operator of Nice Guy Machine Co. @niceguymachine. It represents my vision for functional minimalist art. Taking the form of the classic “Acme” whistle, the two piece design is secured by custom 316 Stainless Steel fasteners. These screws were carefully chosen for their strength and extreme corrosion resistance.
The Safety Whistle is designed & crafted in my shop in Colorado, USA.
The last thing to consider is that it is very small.. sized as a standard Acme whistle so it can be a bit of a mustache trimmer until some muscle memory activates.

Saw this on Instagram and had no idea that it was yours! Good shit man! Rockin the ganj a little too much now. Have you seen products by quiver? They make a titanium bong and chillum. Titanium has great heat properties for stuff like this. I make titanium dabbers and the heat doesn’t travel hardly at all.

Man I really want one of these!! I wish I had the funds now, I think I would anodize mine green or maybe high voltage blue or teal. But I was thinking for the hardware although it does look good already. You should use chris reeve hardware, there nice and deep and that way I would only have to carry around one wrench on trips 😀 but loving the work keep up the excellence!!!

These are so rad. Too bad I can’t rock the ganj anymore. One of the cool characteristics of titanium is that it dissipates heat efficiently. Making a little pipe out of titanium is genius.

It's not a bad idea. I really feel like it needs a small keychain attachment on the front tho. It would have to sit slightly off center because it splits down the middle, but an addition like that would allow people to attach necklaces and wear it like you would a traditional whistle.

The thing is that another machining operation would add 25% to the time & cost. IMO it wouldn’t add usefulness. The only place it might be useful is using it around water.

@@iAMboognish I get that, but you said there would be a version 2 possibly someday so it's something to consider. I actually think that for a lot of people, they'd probably consider wearing it as a necklace, the best way to carry it. That's just my personal opinion of course, but they would get to pick a lanyard themselves which adds a bit of customization to it. Plus, you could maybe have your own lanyards made as well. Have a few different choices with your logo or something on them. Just throwing ideas out there for the future, lol.

Neat! I do have a couple questions, are you planning to do a bigger longer version more like standard size glass pipe? And also what about anodizing would that have concerns for health?

I don’t think I said anything about anodizing being unhealthy. It is only an oxide layer. I will definitely be making another pipe but the next one will be a chillum. It’s gonna be a while though. I’m making 50 more Safety Whistles and the Mr. NiceBar project is the current high priority. I’m imagine I will be solely making those two items through July.
