Great to see you back, Im a new subscriber to the channel. My family here in Australia had mines here in the 1800s in a mountain behind our house. They mined for molybdenite, tungsten, lead, tin. We used to pick big pieces of metal out of the granite walls as kids. There are no roads to the mines, I just know where they are. Cheers Daniel.

Sorry, those octagonal boring tools cannot be made of cast iron. It would shatter - must be some kind of forged steel for work like that. Regards, Nick

Wrought iron, which is also evident by the method of corrosion. Very little carbon in that steel.
