The difference for me is that my Flatmax can make poor puck prep or bad shot decent. That’s where the money factor comes in. I never have to remake an over or under extracted shot over again.

That's my experience with the Flat Max as well. I have an MC5 and a Max and both are consistently excellent. I'm not sure that comparing a $2500 handmade, made in America grinder with a $1000 grinder without pointing out that long term use and quality differences make this an apples and oranges comparison. Monoliths could very well outlive the user and still be functioning as it is today. This is a main reason that I bought Kafatek grinders. I got tired of buying Compaks Mazzer, Mahlkonigs and a Versalab and a few other brands and not being happy with the grind, the noise or the taste. The exception was the Versalab. The coffee from it was good but it was a PIA to keep clean. I bought the first Kafatek grinder in 2016 and see no reason to buy anything else. They just keep getting better and better. As the tester commented, "This is totally subjective."

Compak PKE is a light roast optimized 83mm grinder that does not receive many reviews but has very unique specs. Maybe you should check it out? I ordered the MC5 a week or two ago for the September 2023 batch and plan to pair it with my Compak PKE that I have had for two years.

Hi Hoon, can you provide the link to that scale you’re using and the green shell-like container you weigh the coffee on and the white bellow? Thank you.

Hey Hoon I’m changing my 54mm portafilter (BBE) to 58mm bottomless. I use 18 grams each time, do I need to use more coffee for the 58mm?

Hoon, will the blind shaker fit in the niche?

Seems biased to me, since you spent a fortune on the kafatek

I am sorry niche is all nice and all but I had the privilege to own a niche next to MC-5 / MC-3 / HG-1 Wug / Molar X in conicals and with mazzer burrs came in dead last in cup flavor but after the gorilla gear burrs it did get better clarity and balance but the motor can’t handle light roasts at all unless you willing to mod the motor and the adjustment ring with light roasts jumps around so no competition here
