Nobody said it was dead, only that its popularity faded. And that's just true - consumers have a lot more options now at the same or even lower price-point AND readily available that simply didn't exist when the Niche was at its peak popularity. And if Niche grinders continue to be so hard to come by, it will be slowly sticking to its own name.

I'm curious what retention is like with the flat burrs as opposed to conicals as like you said you won't have gravity to help get all the fines out and also a lower RPM to spin them out. I think this is a fascinating mod but as soon as you said Sworks I knew that cost would be an issue. In the UK at current exchange rates, after shipping and taxes I could buy a new Niche for the price of the SSP burrs and carrier! Probably a better proposition in the US where the Niche is already more expensive.

I got the mod for our shop. I never truly enjoyed the espresso on the Niche, but it felt too overwhelming to sell the Niche and upgrade. I made espresso for people who normally get something made on the Niche conical. There has been a warm reception to the body and texture of shots from the flat burr mod. I personally find this mod reduces the super bright flavors the concials provide, which I'm not a fan of. I do think there's reduced clarity here, but the overall cup is was more clean. @Sprometheus Жыл бұрын
Things like clarity, complexity and texture mostly depend on your burr set. Personally for clarity driven shots I’d go with the SSP MP burrs, for texture the Mizen or SSP Lab Sweet Style, and for complexity the SSP HU. As always, very well done. What intrigues me much is that the flat burrs mod doesn’t seems to increase the grind retention, nor the need for a bellow to clear the flat burrs as for most, if not all, the flat burrs single dose grinder on the market. If this mod doesn’t affect the workflow of the Niche grinder, this will prove me the design superiority of this grinder compared to any other that needs RDT and bellow to get rid of retention. However, I agree that 3 minutes grinding for 17g shot is way too long. You may do something else during grinding, but not for 3 minutes. It's interesting to read how some niche owners are reacting to this video. Remember - it's a product. The niche was the first sort of affordable single dosing grinder to hit this kind of popularity, and as a result a bunch of other companies made comparable grinders to compete, imo improving on the design . In terms of popularity, the niche is dead compared to the heights it was once soaring. It once stood practically alone, and now amongst many. And that's okay, it's a grinder, it's a video. I know you don’t believe in seasoning, but please season the burrs before posting your final review/test video

If they just so happened to be “seasoned” by that time I promise you, nor I will notice the difference.

The click bait caught me despite wanting to see the product either way. Jebaited.

Haha I think clickbait means the video doesn’t actually have the thing that was baited, so you were indeed jebaited.

@@Sprometheus I feel click bait can include the content, e.g. Philly D titles. I got to it early when it was NICHE DEATH THROWS?¿? or what have you, I liked the phrasing and got a good kick out of it as I watched and made my own coffee. As always love the content!
