Christopher Sabat is one of my favorite English Dub VAs ever. His portfolio is huge and filled with some fantastic characters. Vegeta - DBZ All Might - MHA Piccolo - DBZ Major Armstrong - FMAB Zoro - One Piece Yami - Black Clover Snake - Vinland Saga To name a few. I recommend watching even more MHA dub moments when you get farther along in the show. No spoilers, but there is a fight (my favorite in the whole show) at the end of season 3. You will know what fight I'm talking about once you get there. The English Dub is insanely good for that moment.

I love that they included the French because it helps to highlight that whether you're an English audio or Japanese audio lover, they're both great! (This is spoken as someone who is fluent in French... that dubbing hurt)

IMHO, the dub for Black Clover is just as good as the Sub, if not better, for many of the characters. It makes me wonder if attention to detail and loving their roles/jobs is a Funimation thing, TBH. Or if Sabat really is just that goated as a director (IIRC, he directs other VAs as well as doing his own voice work).

one thing i hate about dub is not just that it is literally imposible to be as good as the original, its that they always try to force it. ive seen dubs where they did their own thing, which isnt just respectable, it atleast worked. you cant just change the language. its not that simple. i know most people dont even understand how language works, but just compare these two: 0:15 and 0:45 everything is better in the original, even tho it is literally english that is being spoken. the sound is garbage (i know that the clip has probably worse quality, but when watching dub there is always this low quality mixing, like when the ost kicks in these epic vibes from original anime lose some of their effect and sound weakened), the effect they put on the voice makes the actually good and fitting voice just sound stupid like its some fanproject and the worst part is people actually react to it like its good and epic. whenever i talk about dub in any anime there is always a group of people talking about how good of a dub it is. its not, its just some people with a similar voice trying to sound similar or someone with a completely different voice acting like hes better than the original. also french sounded so bad because they didnt put any effects on it. but what do you expect from the french....

MHA’s dub I’d like to think is pretty great, or is at least on the better end of the spectrum. Biggest gripe for me is just the fact that certain things didn’t translate very well into the English version, but I wouldn’t say it’s entirely their fault. Mostly just because of the language barrier.
