And once that happens - theres simply nothing to do, but lose. You could in theory escape mahoraga though. Like for example. If mahoraga had fully adapted to sukuna and then gojo had shown up. It wouldn't be any stronger after sukunas defeat than it was at the moment of being summoned. It now gets to survive gojo in the hopes of nullifying him. And then again if it won and hakari, yuta, higuruma, ETC show up it restarts again. Mahoraga is either stronger than you period or it needs to survive and then you die once it becomes imune. Mahoraga has no Potential. What you see is all it will ever be in terms of its own power. Its essentially max level in all stats and done with the game. Power buffs and stuff are probably the only way it gets better

Nah, it wasn't on purpose, the animators and directors had a very defined idea of how the fight should go, but Mappa didn't let them delay the chapter, so they were not able to accomplish everything and they had to put together what they could. Remember the part in which Sukuna slaps away the arm of Mahoraga? Around the 12:00 time of this video. That part wasn't connected with Mahoraga instantly regenerating and it was shown in the sketches and line art of the animators, that's why some part are confusing and seem to make little sense but not because it was their fault, it was Mappa's CEO or bosses fault. Still they were able to make something really well done, is surprising how much better it'd have been if they had enough time.

That's why sukuna used fire arrow at the end because Mahoraga already adapted to sukuna's slices. This also happened in manga if you don't know that Sukuna used Mahoraga against gojo. Both gojo and Sukuna were breaking each other's domain so it was just a matter of time that eventually either gojo or sukuna would have not be able to escape domain.Then either gojo or sukuna could have died(although sukuna was not going full potential). So sukuna summon Mahoraga then when sukuna and Mahoraga both were in gojo's domain sukuna broke the void this made Mahoraga to adapt to gojo's domain.Then Mahoraga(adapted to every techniques of gojo)cut one hand of Gojo.

That translation is not technically wrong. The name of this domain is a reference to a Buddhist text, which actually used the word “kitchen” to name an important shrine. Both are correct technically but “shrine” sounds 100 times cooler than “kitchen”. In fact, Sakuna’s technique resembles a lot of properties of a chef so it actually makes sense for his domain to be a kitchen.

It's one of the worst tropes in Comic book/Superhero history.......the villain acquiring extra powers he/she didn't have originally to get stronger......My hero academia, Mashle etc. That plus the stronger characters die off so the younger cast can get to shine.....It's tiring and one of the reasons I almost stopped watching anime entirely. Gojo is stronger than Sukuna. Not significantly but stronger all the same. Sukuna would have died without Megumi's 10 tails ability. If Gojo had makora, he would have adapted to Sukuna's slashes and malevolent shrine after sukuna used them a lot. Gojo is stronger.
