Cannot really explain in words the emotions I get every time I see your videos. I myself have been to the country three times. I wish I was able to see Nepal through your lens ( the way you captured it, a True Nepal) . All my trips were pretty rushed. Planning to go to the Manaslu circuit this year. Will try to slow down.

Hi Nicholas. 2 Questions. 1. What month was this trek taken? 2. I get the impression from this - and other videos - that you maybe don't filter or treat the water for drinking?
@NicholasEager9 сағат бұрын
Hey! This was filmed in late Sept/October. And I actually do filter/treat all my water - I use Aquatabs on this trek since I lost my filter the month before. I just don't usually film those bits when I am tired and thirsty! 😄
@colehendrigan13685 сағат бұрын
@@NicholasEagerthanks for the reply. That all makes sense. I was up there last year on Manaslu and it was much wetter over September and October (2023) supposedly after the monsoon, so good to see it with a little drier. Thanks for the note on filtering, I was wondering if you had iron guts or something. I have aquatabs as a backup to my S@_yer filter. Good work, I like how your production quality has improved.

I don't know why he keeps saying Tibetan so many times, they are Nepali people and those are Nepali villages. There is cultural overlap at the border of any two countries, they are as much Nepali as any central hill people.
@Kitsune-ko18 сағат бұрын
Borders might be drawn on maps, but identities are drawn in hearts-and sometimes those hearts speak Tibetan, even if they live in Nepal. The people in question proudly identify as Tibetan and speak the Tibetan language. Ignoring that would be like calling a baguette just ‘bread’ because it’s in a different bakery. Let’s respect their identity for what it is, not just where it happens to be.
@sancortexstk525214 сағат бұрын
@Kitsune-ko I'm not questioning their identity, I have utmost respect and love for everyone's culture and traditions. I find it uneasy that he keeps saying Tibetan village, it's a Nepali village where people with close cultural ties with Tibet live. Also, Tibetan culture is not as monolithic as we are trying to make it sound here. Nepal is as much a part of Vajrayana Buddhism as Tibet is, it's the lifestyle at such high altitude that makes them different from someone in the mid-hills. The neighbouring Mustang was the last stronghold for the Tibetan uprising and the role of Americans in it makes me slightly uncomfortable. I have seen his previous videos, they are spectacular but the constant obsession to link Tibet with everything is bizarre to me. Lastly, the cultural sphere of Tibet is much larger than we realise, from Qinghai, north Yunnan and Sichuan(I believe Tibetan prefecture still exists) to Mongolia and deep connection with mainland China's history.
@Kitsune-ko14 сағат бұрын
@@sancortexstk5252 I appreciate your perspective, but it’s important to focus on how the people themselves identify. While the villages are geographically in Nepal, the locals openly identify as Tibetan and speak Tibetan. Dismissing this as mere ‘cultural ties’ overlooks their self-defined heritage. Cultural identity isn’t bound by borders, and respecting how people see themselves is crucial-regardless of political or historical complexities.
@sancortexstk525213 сағат бұрын
@@Kitsune-ko I have no problem with the people, they are my fellow countrymen they have every right to see themselves as Tibetan, in fact many households keep the picture of Dalai Lama I don't think actual Tibet has such freedom. My problem is with his choice of the title including previous videos, I don't know he might just find Tibet as this exotic mysterious culture romanticised by Hollywood with a degree of propaganda to promote American exceptionalism.
@WaMo72113 сағат бұрын
"Nepali village" is a broader term and it can mean a village in the terai region or even at the bihar border.....but when he say "tibetan village" suddenly you get a clearer picture in your mind as it is more specific.... a tibetan village is not only found in tibet...we can find a "tibetan village" in india as well.
