Im so glad you understood the importance of Reigen’s line “when things go south, its okay to run away” when he stopped mob. Because i get frustrated a lil bit when i watched other reactors and they get mad at reigen for stopping mob and also because they want mob to go berserk. Its a really heart hitting moment for the two of them and really shows reigen’s moral as a character! SO HYPED FOR YOU TO START SEASON 2. ITS GONNA BE SO GOOOOD!! The animation you've been praising to the heavens (rightly so!) is by studio Bones, one of the best in the business. Bones also did Fullmetal Alchemist (both original and Brotherhood). The director of Mob Psycho is Yuzuru Tachikawa, who also directed Death Parade for Studio Madhouse. Death Parade is a great show that has one of the greatest openings of all time, "Flyers" by Bradio. I think you've reacted to that song before (and if you haven't, you should...it's an absolute bop).

this moment in the finale is what has me convinced that Reigen is the only one who has ever "defeated" Shigeo's 100%. because he recognizes Shigeo's distress, cares about him and wants to stop him from boiling over, and actually has the right words to bring him back from the edge. an ounce of de-escalation is worth _everything_ to Shigeo. and Shigeo gives Reigen _everything_ he has in gratitude, for understanding him in this way. this is literally a stronger power than we've ever seen Shigeo manifest and control on his own. Reigen's whole thing is that he knows how to read people, and often understands what they need better than they do on their own. Reigen understands Mob.

It's insanely cool when you put it into perspective because, as far as we know, Reigen's never seen Mob explode - not with 100%, definitely not with ???%. He has no idea what Mob's powers can actually do once out of control. But he definitely realized the destructive effect the situation was having on him mentally if anything. Ritsu and Teru have both seen Mob at ???% and know just how strong he is, but they don't really process the psychological implications and clearly are also very much in danger and scared, so they can't really look out for Mob the way Reigen did just there - he was the only person who could afford to do it. And he did it despite being arguably in even more danger than anyone else given his lack of powers.

Reigen's never seen him at 100% and it indicates that Reigen wouldn't push him there, or allow him to be pushed there. not while he's around. if Shigeo is going to feel 100% of anything while Reigen is there, it's this. also... [SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2] I love how, in spite of this, Reigen's perspective isn't venerated as something that's always untouchably correct. when Reigen tells Shigeo that his friends are probably using him, it's a misconception that comes from Reigen's own experiences and insecurities. he's not just being pointlessly mean... he's being a more complicated type of wrong. Reigen's whole business model is to know better than the gullible people that make up the bulk of his clientele. they're going to an admittedly really fake looking psychic with a bunch of problems that almost always aren't caused by anything paranormal at all. in a way, they rely on Reigen to have the good sense that they don't. but this can lead a person into maintaining an incredibly skeptical outlook on the world, bordering on downright cynical. and especially when Reigen starts to tumble to the fact that a lot of his more regular clients don't really care about him beyond seeing him as a solution to their petty problems... he starts to feel used. which is a weird thing for a con artist to feel, yaknow? basically, his cynicism is a double edged sword. when he's right, he's really right... facing Claw showed us that. but he can also be wrong, and those two states are situational, not mutually exclusive. and this is why Reigen and Shigeo make such a good team. Shigeo may come off as overly trusting, or downright gullible at times, but when he's right, he's right. sometimes he'll go out on a limb and trust a person, even before they've proven themselves to be trustworthy. it's a high stakes gamble sometimes, but it can also give a person who feels cornered by their bad decisions a free way out. and if they take the opportunity that Shigeo willingly gives them... they can end up much better off. at his worst, Shigeo can trust his way into horrible situations... but at his best, he opens people's hearts in a way that cynicism simply can't. on the flip side, at his worst, Reigen can destroy the trust between himself and others, simply by being too shifty, or distrusting when he doesn't need to be suspicious. but at his best, he actually does know better... and that can save them from people who would rather do them extremely detrimental harm. the whole show is about finding a balance between these two perspectives. it's about knowing your worth and importance, but also recognizing that that exists in all people, in some form or another. you can't trample others for the sake of elevating yourself, and really, you shouldn't have to. the worth of a person is intrinsic, and while you may not be the most special person to everyone in the universe, you'll always matter to the people who know you best. it's an incredible message, and the show communicates it in so many different ways with so many different people... One really did an excellent job writing this story.

I loved Reigen in the past 2 seasons, but in season 3 I am convinced that I really love the dude. Reigen best boi! He had his shortcomings but he learned and bounced back. That's what I love about Reigen. He's the ultimate sensei. He might not have the powers Mob has, but he has a very big heart for Mob and for all the people around him. Man, this show has impacted my life in a way that only a few, if any, others have managed to accomplish. The lessons in this show and how it not only teaches us to become better, but helps us *want* to, and I think that’s a beautiful thing. I told you, Mob Psycho 100 is something else. All the production of Mob Psycho 100 was done by Studio Bones and if there's a reason why it looks so impressing is because they applied different animation styles from traditional paper drawings colored in post, to charcoal and glass painting. The whole thing with Opening 2 99.9 is that is a homage to different styles of animation.

My absolute favorite part about S1 Mob Psycho is that the animation and story kind of invite you to not take it super seriously at first, kind of like how you'd take what we have of One Punch Man. By the middle of the season it has some emotional moments for sure, but the ending hits you with such an emotional and poignant arc that somehow doesn't feel unrelated to everything you've seen before. Everything onward from this has the best of both the humor and emotional sides on full display and its definitely a journey. Always enjoyed it for what it was, but by the series finale it 100% solidified itself as a top 5 anime of all time for me. Great vid, love your content, and have fun on vaca brother! Till next time.

26:18 this is just my guess but i think the reason why they animated this scene (which is originally an omake from the manga, it's like few additional pages by the end of each chapter that doesn't get animated) is because mob briefly mentions it in s2 so they had to animate it for us to know what is he talking about. (Also the animation looks different because it was drawn in the manga style)

From what I understand, the final scene with Reigen and Mob hunting for mushrooms/tsuchinoko looks different because it was animated by the creator of Mob psycho. Fun Fact about that last scene of the episode with Reigen and Mob looking for mushrooms. The author One animated that extra scene, that's why it looked odd because that's his artstyle.
