My little girl turned 30 today. We celebrated last week when she was in town but that's not the same. Not a day goes by where I don't feel this way. My little boy turns 33 in 2 weeks. When he was born, "Cats In The Cradle" by Harry Chapin was the song that sent me into tears. This captures even more of that bittersweet feeling. I sit here crying knowing that while I have awesome relationships with my kids and they are accomplishing great things in life, I do sometimes wish indeed that they could have "slowed down". I thank you for this incredible song and the unconditional love it portrays.

Congratulations on your wedding Kevin! I’m not sure if you two plan to have a family someday or not. It’s a very personal decision that isn’t right for everyone. I will tell you though, that you will never be able to fully grasp or comprehend how much your parents love you until the first time you hold your 1st born in your arms. There are many people that you will love in your life. Your parents, siblings, friends, especially your spouse. But the moment that little hand grabs hold of your pinkie is the moment you get to learn what it means to love someone unconditionally. There is nothing stronger or more powerful in this entire world than the love a mother & father have for their children. ♥️

My older cousin just used this for a video of her baby's first year. I had never heard it before that. I'm 15 and sobbing my eyes out. After finishing freshman year, I quickly realized I only have 3 years until graduation. Then what? I wish I could slow down, and be with my parents longer. All those days of being 5, 6, 7 when all I wanted to do was grow up, that's all over. If I could fall asleep in my mom's arms like I did for the first four years of my life, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I didn't know it then, but at age eight, I had it all. Worry free and ready to take on the world. Now I'm too grown up for everything I used to love, the stress is real, and nothing seems simple. Nothing is familiar and the future is scary. Anyone with me? Edit: I love how people are asking for an update now 💜 I graduated high school in June of 2021, and I just started college this fall. I’m an education major. I still miss the past-right now, I feel like I am just tumbling through life. I think more people need to say that it’s okay if you don’t really like college that much. It doesn’t have to be “the best four years of your life.” Right now, I feel like I’m in that stage of life when I just want to be in those years when you settle into a routine; I want a degree, a job, a home, a family, and a little stability. I know that’s easier said than done haha, and I’m sure when I’m in line at preschool drop off for the umpteenth time I’ll be wishing for a little mix up in life. But right now, it’s something new every time things start to feel a little bit normal.

You are in my prayers as a mama to 3. My oldest is now in 11th grade and I remember back when I was young. It seems like yesterday. I remember not wanting ot grow up as it seemed so scary to me. But now I'm walking beside my children going through the same things, holding their hands but allowing them to grow. The years go by so fast and just know that you start every day with a single step. You do not need to jump. Just step forward. Little by little. And also know we mamas love it when even our older children just want to be held and sung to. That's where the blessings of being a parent come from 🤗 God bless!

I remember when I was little and I asked my mom if I could stay with her forever and never move out. Even though you will eventually grow up and want to move out, you'll always remember being a kid and loving your mom so much you never wanted to leave, and she'll remember it too, and they'll be memories to cherish forever. I'm a mom now, and if my daughter tells me she wants to stay with me forever, I'll be really happy even though I know she's going to grow up and get tired of her mom and want to move out. This song is beautiful. It took me two days to complete it because I couldn’t keep from crying. What a joy motherhood is and being a parent is.

I'm laying here with my babe and I was singing worship songs to her just like my mom and I got to do when I was little when I found this song. She passes away in april from breast cancer and never got to see her grandbaby. So I'm a mother with her daughter and a Daughter without her Mother and this song made me SOB.

Here’s to you You were pink or blue And everything I wanted Here’s to you Never sleeping through From midnight till the morning Had to crawl before you walked Before you ran Before I knew it You were trying to free your fingers from my hand ‘Cause you could it on your own now somehow Slow down Won’t you stay here a minute more I know you want to walk through the door But it’s all too fast Let’s make it last a little while I pointed to the sky and now you wanna fly I am your biggest fan I hope you know I am But do you think you can somehow Slow down Here’s to you Every missing tooth Every bedtime story Here’s to Barbie cars, light saber wars Sleeping in on Sunday Had to crawl Before you walked Before you ran Before I knew it You were teaching me The only thing love can Hold hands through it When it’s scary, you’ve got me Slow down Won’t you stay here a minute more I know you want to walk through the door But it’s all too fast Let’s make it last a little while I pointed to the sky and now you wanna fly I am your biggest fan I hope you know I am But do you think you can somehow Slow down Please don’t roll your eyes at me I know I’m embarrassing But someday you’ll understand You’ll hold a little hand Ask them if they can I am your biggest fan I hope you know I am But do you think you can Somehow Slow down Slow down

As a soon to be FTM to a little boy in November, I can’t help but sob listening to this. Even while growing inside me I’m afraid of how fast life goes and how he’ll be here before I know it and grow and grow…and I hope time slows down just a little so I get to enjoy my precious boy before he’s all grown up 💙

It really makes you think of how blessed I am to have my mom in my life. No I wasn't always the best child to her but she still kept putting up with me. She is not perfect and parenting is not easy but I have had such a blessed childhood. And now being 20 years old in college she is still taking care of me. I love my mom and I am thankful for her. And you know what too, even though my dad is not in my life I love him too and I can't wait to see him on earth and if not then in heaven. But I'd love to see him on earth

This is a wonderful song Here I am a 17 year old sobbing in bed at 10 pm cuz of this I love this song so much but it makes my heart ache because of the connection I make to my mom Her and my father divorced when I wan very young and made the hard decision that I'd be best with my dad From ages 5 and on I saw my mom maybe 1-4 times a year She never got to watch me grow up like a normal mom does, and she still doesn't get too since she lives out of the country, all she got to see was 1-3 week snapshots into my life a few times a year and it makes my heart break I know her decision was the bear thing and I love her to bits but the pain and confusion I delt with I can only imagine knowing your child is growing up and achieving things and hitting milestones and you don't get to see any of it because they are hours away and you needed to get away and find your happyness. I love her so much, when she did see me she showered me in love and encouraged me to be independent and follow my dreams

As a dad, this sums up everything I want to say. Never knew I needed a best mate like my little one until he got here. He was everything I was missing. He is 6 now but it's all going too fast and I make him promise me that he will still cuddle me like he does now when he is older. Wish I could pause time and just ask him to slow down. Beautiful lyrics and pull at the heart strings every time!

Zoie- I remember the day you were born like it just happened and you're already almost in middle school. I really wish that I could go back in time and cherish every sleepless night, every diaper change, every first word and all of the great stuff that comes with being your momma. This is one of the best songs and makes me cry everytime. From today forward I'm going to relax and enjoy watching you grow. I love you so much and you're the best thing that's ever happened in my life.
