Nick, you are a one of a kind. The big old bikes, some still ride them. The beautiful backroads of Canada, some ride those too. It's getting more and more rare for those in their 70s to ride because of health and strength issues. Few know how to wrench anything more than a backed out bolt or broken mirror, much less a tire in the woods. Combine all these, and you are a rare renaissance man.

Thanks for another interesting and informative video Nick. Couldn't agree more about the very hot weather (at least by Canadian standards). I absolutely love that you go anywhere and everywhere on bikes of all types and ages. You are a beacon of rationality in a sea of hyper marketing bs. So-called 'adventure' bikes that cost as much as a decent car and have more tech and horsepower than said car are completely unnecessary. Ride on and keep the videos coming please.

Seems like you had very nice year of riding. I haven't ridden as much this year, the job slowed me down. The bikes all have service work which needs performing. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE,Nick!

An enjoyable summing up of your riding year Nick. Something of a compromise required in your choice of bike, with such a huge playground to explore and so many unpaved roads. I am amazed at how well a behemoth like the Gold Wing copes on the loose stuff. Hope to watch more great rides here in '25.

Nice summary of your year of riding. Very enjoyable. I would love to do some similar adventures on my W800 but with my wife's cognitive issues I can't leave her alone for extended periods so I will live those adventures vicariously through your videos. I agree that much of the early summer this year was too hot for enjoyable riding. BJ in North Gower

The Breva wins out in 2024 among some stiff competition , it must be a pretty good ride . Lots of miles again this year .... no surprise here 🙂

Thanks, Nick, for another enjoyable video! I just went back in your history and you only have one on the Honda Pacific Coast. I dare to say you owe us some explanation! Please :) how long have you had it? What did you like and what not? Who do you think would like it? (After yours, i also watched the RyanF9 vid on this bike.)
@nick949eldoАй бұрын
I only had it for a few months. It really duplicated my other bikes and when I got the Breva it was one too many bikes in the garage. It needed some carb work (one of the chokes was seized and damaged) and aesthetically it was a mess - but what can one expect for $750?😄. It was comfortable, very smooth. Handled well. Good brakes and very quiet. A civilized bike. A small scale Goldwing.

I'm in Hamilton. Next spring I hope to take a ride up your way. So much to explore up there! Just hate the idea of riding through Toronto:(.
@exc911ence_channelАй бұрын
Then don't. The roads up the east side of Lake Huron are very scenic, then it's a fun jaunt through Algonquin Park to get into E. Ontario.
@scottfarraway34Ай бұрын
@@exc911ence_channel That sounds like a good plan!
@nick949eldoАй бұрын
If I ever end up that way (which isn't very often) I loop around Toronto via Peterborough, Newmarket and Orangeville. It increases the distance but lowers the stress.

Nick, I can't thank you enough for these videos. After years of mainly dirt riding, I picked up a KLR and have intentions to start my retirement with some Canada adventures, most of which I assure you will be contemplated only by virtue of your wonderful and thorough documentation of the options. I do have a question that I have not really seen addressed by you in your videos (though I may have missed it): as an all-year rider myself, I am obsessed with road salt, and do my best to plan rides around post-rain wash-offs (no salt remaining on roads), but I gather you are less concerned about the ravages of it on your bikes--at least from what I deduce from your videos. What is your concern level around road salt? In any event, thanks again for what you are offering to the (I suspect) vast audience of motorcycle riders who are not obsessed with testosterone-fueled demonstrations of Instagram-worthy stunts and bravado.
@nick949eldo21 күн бұрын
Hi Paul. Vast audience? You jest. My videos only reach a small group of fanatics and my monthly KZbin income is about enough to fill the gas tank on one of my bikes - but that's not why I do it. It's for fun and to encourage others to step out of the humdrum. As for salt, I really don't give it much of a thought for two reasons. In our area we get more sand on the roads than salt (although it is probably a mix of both). But mostly it is because I don't think of motorbikes as an 'investment'. They deteriorate and lose value from the moment you buy them. Life is too short to be worried about a little salt damage. If I'm lucky I might have another ten or fifteen years of riding ahead of me before I'm too addled and weak to get off the couch. Even my oldest bikes will outlast me. If you want to protect the bike douse it in ACF-50 or hose it off after each ride. BUT, only ride when the roads are ice free. It may look as though I ride in poor conditions with lots of snow, but I'm very careful about making sure the road surface is sound and ride slowly. Stay well and ride safely. Nick.
@jgordoncooper7112Ай бұрын
You make me ashamed of myself. I have become a fair-weather rider. I have all the proper gear to ride most of the year. My excuse --- I took the batteries out of the bikes and brought them in the house, so they won't freeze. Why are batteries so hard to get to on motorcycles? In the old days, many of my bikes ran off a magneto, and would blow out the lights if you revved it too high. Thanks
@nick949eldoАй бұрын
@@jgordoncooper7112 No need. We all do what works for us. I just make sure the batteries stay charged on the bikes all winter. I can't be bothered to take them off, besides, I may want to ride.
