"Cos Love asks for Nothing, but Love Costs Everything" - I don't think I've ever felt a line in a song harder than this one

Favourite song from this album.. with 2 of the simplest but most heartfelt lines. 'love would endure if it could' and 'love asks for nothing, but love costs everything'. Cave's ability to continue to write at such a high level well into his 7th decade is incomparable.

Well into his...6th decade…approx 4th-5th decade of writing
@anupamnair-bb3py4 ай бұрын
@@sweeneyadair2952 he is 67.. so it is his 7th decade. The point i was trying to make was most musicians stop producing new stuff at this age , n rely on 'best of' n 'reisusses' to get by. Not so with Nick .

This song really reminds me of God's creation in Genesis. He "saw that it was good" (Genesis 1:21), then he made more and it was "very good". (Genesis 1:31) This is similar to the progression of "I told my friends that life was sweet. I told my friends that life was very sweet". Then later on this line is succeed by "You said that in the castle ruins". It's as if to note that God, being omniscient, knew that through the creation, innocence would be lost, that it would come to ruin. God said it was "very good" despite the surety that it would soon and ever since then not be.

The comment sections for each song has someone saying "this is the best song on the albulm." Nad a few have "His best song ever" Lol That's a much better indicator of an album's quality than any critics review.

I just had a thought. Cinnamon sounds like cimarron which is a type of horse. It reminds me of how kids mispronounce things but use actual other words. Perhaps this is a reference to what Arthur or Jethro said as a kid when they were being read to or just heard the phrase 'cimarron horses' but thought it was 'cinnamon horses'

What do you consider his 'prime' just out of interest? And defne 'kitsch'? He's still creating music from the heart, and constantly evolving, as all true artists do. I love it. Each to their own. Sounds like a typical hipster comment 😂

Totally over rated his songwriting is shockingly average but once the music business smells money honesty and a true artistic evaluation of a work goes “ out of the window “ he is a hipper version of “ the last dinner party “ another “ act “ that is currently being pushed out to an unbelievably stupid gullible public …
