Of all Bad Seeds songs this is probably my favorite, and I absolutely love this version. I think it might even be better than the album version.

it is the energy of his rendition i think he truly believes in what hes performing this is really rare most artists want to just sell music that sells. Nick isnt like that he believes he has a responsibility in his music that makes his creations so muchgreater than the artists out there

Saw this played during the same tour at Thebby theatre in Adelaide, it was an experience! Warren was going off on the violin sitting on the floor back to the audience rocking back and forth. I bought the album (on CD) and played the album and particularly this song over and over. Still gives me chills now

My favourite Bad Seeds line-up in many ways: Warren as part of the ensemble rather than overwhelming the music, Blixa creating an extra edge to the sound; Mick, Marty, Conway and Tomas in perfect lock-step while Jim adds a layer on top. This was the group totally in synch and creating a brilliant backing. The Abbatoir Blues Tour version of the band with Jim Johnston was also an excellent version - similar to this but the shift from Blixa's guitar to Jim's organ work was an inspired change.

I thought I’d take a walk today It’s a mistake I sometimes make My children lay asleep in bed My wife lay wide-awake I kissed her softly on the brow I tried not to make a sound But with stony eyes she looked at me And gently squeezed my hand Call it a premonition, call it a crazy vision Call it intuition, something learned from mother But when she looked up at me , I could clearly see The Sword of Damocles hanging directly above her Oh lord Oh my lord Oh lord How have I offended thee?

@johnnytwice999113 жыл бұрын
@andboy I used to think alike - it's about man who's slowly losing his mind. Now I find there a lot of autobiographic regards. I think Cave tells about the dark sides of being public person - freaks disturbing his private space, stalkers (when he calls to his wife: hey baby it's only me), the vicissitudes of fame (ladder your climbing up/down), papparazzi (telescopic camera) and all that showbiz shit.

When I saw them in Stockholm in 2013, you could tell they weren't having the best night. There were some sound issues towards the end, and Nick appeared quite pissed off. So, I guess by Bad Seeds measures, that was a below average concert. My point being, it was still absolutely fantastic. Bad Seeds on a bad night are better and more intense than most bands on their best nights.
