The Mercy Seaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ! ! Hard to beaaaaaat. Absolute classic. This and you know how many wonderful songs written by Nick Cave is everlasting and beautiful for anyone who resonates with his kind of music and perspective of the World. Just what is wrong with some people on here who deride such a creative artist as Cave on here with ugly comments that are and do nothing beautiful in this world. Grey matter from grey matter minded people... comes to mind. Anyway... For anyone who feels nothing or maniacal contempt is for me devoid of a Fiery Spirit. Thank GOD for Caveeeeeeeeeeeee. Thank you To Nick Cave for his Music i find so enriching when i hear it by my own effort or by chance somewhere else...

43:44 this is the most beautiful side of England, replicated across the country. Old church graveyards in the summer, totally overgrown, teeming with life and wildflowers. The most preciously English of scenes. The most peaceful places.

If you saw him live, I hope it was around the time this was likely posted, which would have been the “Push The Sky Away” tour, I believe.... I saw the live show for that tour in Philadelphia, and it was utterly brilliant. I’ve seen a handful of shows in my life so transcendent that it’s safe to call them “religious”experiences, and that show was absolutely one of them!

Oh Christ, Will Self once again boring us with his drug 'insights', I think Cave is well able to describe this without the professional junkie weighing in quoting Burroughs for the umteenth time.

Self's autobiographical "Will" gives some very revealing comments on why he "chose'"to become a junkie.

Can an Australian be a Poet ?

Truth is stranger than diction, what gets me about this is: Why are subtitles in Italian, and why not German?

What an ignorant comment. Australia has some wonderful poets!

(...) There are thousands of songs just like this performed by hundreds of heavy metal bands all over the world. Most of these songs are rarely heard outside of small circles of followers. Few songs of this kind have been very successful. peter murphy - bauhausDirectly or indirectly, however, this type of music and the spiritual forces that distinguish it have marked contemporary culture. What was once unthinkable is now not only sung and accepted, but sometimes it is also embraced and followed. However, heavy metal does not have a monopoly on blasphemy. The '80s have seen a macabre genre of rock emerge that combines elements punk, new wave and even classical music. I'm talking about artists like Cure, Bauhaus, Christian Death, Sisters of Mercy, Diamanda Galas, NICK CAVE, The Lords of the New Church and The Smiths. The hidden elements within this new genre are even more dangerous than those of heavy metal because they are combined with an intelligence and a poetic passion rarely found in the latter. For example, when Peter Murphy of the Bauhaus, at the beginning of a satanic Mass, chants in Latin the words "Father, Son and Holy Spirit", first on the obverse and then on the contrary, one senses a particular sensation, an urgent left that it can be cut with a knife. Here is the comment of the magazine Propaganda Magazine about the recording of this song: «Peter kept his last energies for the final push. As if suddenly it was possessed by demons; all the stinking burden came out of his mouth in the form of vomit [...] (Later) the evil spirits - literally - chased them out of the gloomy recording studios, making them look over their shoulders as they spilled onto the road laughing nervously » 4 Diamanda Galas, whose voice was used to emphasize the sounds of demonic possession in the movie The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988), closes the album Litanies of Satan ("Litany of Satan" ; Mute Records 1982) with these words: "To Thee, O Satan Glory be, and praise Grant that my soul, one day Beneath the Tree of Knowledge May rest near Thee ». To you, O Satan Glory and praise Grant that my soul, one day Under the Tree of Knowledge May rest near you. (...) adapted from: www.centrosangiorgio.com/rock_satanico/articoli/pagine_articoli/rock_e_occulto.htm * * * * * * * IF YOU'RE LIKE TO PREFER THE PAIN FOR THE ETERNITY 'YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT ROAD ... BECAUSE SATAN IS WAITING TO MAKE YOU THE THIEF THINGS ... YOU WAIT FOR THE HELL AND I DECLINE YOU AND SUCKS IN LIFE BECAUSE MIND KNOWING TO DIE! IT TAKES YOU ON !!! STILL HAVE YOU UNDERSTOOD? WELL TODAY IS THE TIME TO TURN THE SHOULDERS AND CHOOSE THE ONE WHO IS THE ONLY THAT CAN HELP YOU ... JESUS CHRIST. let's recite this prayer together: Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with You, You are blessed among all women and blessed is the fruit of Your womb, Jesus. Saint Mary prays for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The spiritual forces you're talking about aren't intimidated by paint-by-numbers prayers. Also, praying to Mary is idolatry. "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking." Matthew 6:7
