Such an incredible talent, will this world ever be safe enough place for the sensitive creative souls? they share so much beauty but often are destroyed in spite of their generosity, courage and wealth of gifts - we must treasure the creatives and support them!

Such a tragedy that we lost him so young and zero footage either. Sometimes, when you get back home after another night playing the wallflower you can find him somehow glowing amongst your collection and you pour a glass, throw him on and go somewhere where you can be yourself and have no fear of exposing yourself and cry!

A beautiful song I agree and whilst I'm not as big of a nick drake fan as some people this is one of my all time favourite songs ..love Saturday sun and river man too 🌞

Also worth mentioning the sound and production quality and the orchestrations where applicable. Whoever these guys were they have the required skills and knew exactly how to show case Nicks work to perfection. In particular how they brought it all in to sound so close and personal, like Nick was singing and playing just to the listener. Also, please wash your mouth out my man. Nicks picking was top stuff and played to match every subtle nuance and emphasis in perfect harmony. This I have no doubt was mainly an instinctive talent which few have matched within a recording studio. Again don't underestimate what was going on at the recording desk. Getting Nicks particular sound was not even close to as simple as you suggest. It most certainly was not just Nick, a guitar and a microphone.

Ok, yeah, there was a producer and engineer in John Wood. Still, at the end of the day, this was just Nick and his acoustic guitar. Nothing else. No backing band. For "Pink Moon," Wood and Drake were the only ones present in the studio over a 2-day period. Maybe it's not as simple as I put it, but I don't think it's as deep as you suggest.

Nick Drake never fails. A guitar and his voice are enough to transport you. Are all Nicks this talented? 😉

I can't say, but he's definitely one of the best Nicks ever.

My favorite Nick Drake song is Time Has Told Me. I love the country sound of it with the steel guitar accompaniment. It always lifts my mood. Hopefully you’ll get around to it one of these days

Short and sweet. Sadly, like his life. There are two artists that have done true covers of Nick's stuff. Josh Turner, who also explains how he got his sound. Also, Chris Brain, I recal, covered this whole album. I don't know either but it's great to know his impact on musicians survives.

Why not also react to the other Nick, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Suggestions: • From her to eternity (a song about neighbourhood, from his first album with the Bad Seeds, title song) • I had a dream, Joe (some faster track) • Loverman (a nice song about a stalker and rapist) • Where the wild roses grow (featuring Kylie Minogue, yes, what a couple...; this song even hit the charts worldwide) • Hallelujah (not Nick's cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, that's fine too, but Nick's own Hallelujah about a writer's block) • We came along this road (nice first line, nice piano playing) • Fifteen feet of pure white snow (a winter song, or not?) • Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! (about careers) • Jubilee Street (adjacent to Penny Lane?) • Push the sky away (trance) • Stagger Lee (some rough language to say the least) • Time Jesum transeuntum et non riverentum (probably a track for Halloween; no worries, only the title is in Latin) • Bright horses (Nick wrote this after his teenage son fell off a cliff near Brighton and died) • any song from the album “No more shall we part”
