I've been binge watching your hugefloods series. I've learned more about this planet in a the last 2 weeks than my entire life. You are a fantastic teacher and your passion is reflected in your lessons.

Just came across your podcasts and KZbin videos and it's been a huge asset to me. I'm a grad student at UMass Lowell working on sedimentary rock from Gold Beach in SW Oregon that record evidence supporting the Baja-Bc hypothesis. So excited to continue listening! 😁

Regarding the East Pacific Rise you have to remember that the Pacific Plate was way out in the ocean during Baja-BC times. You had the Kula Plate to the north and the Farallon Plate to the south of this spreading ridge he's described. That spreading ridge ran between two triple junctions. The eastern triple junction was the spreading ridge meeting the transform faults marking the boundary between the North American Plate and the Kula Plate to the north of the triple junction and the Farallon Plate to the south of the triple junction. Sometimes subduction zones formed instead of transform faults and it's a complicated story. What about the triple junction at the other end of the spreading ridge between the Farallon and Kula plates? That is where the Pacific Plate enters the picture. That western triple junction was between oceanic spreading ridges. The East Pacific Rise is the spreading ridge between the Pacific and Farallon Plates. The spreading ridge between the Pacific and Kula Plates is long gone. It got subducted up at Alaska 40 million years ago, changing the motion of the Farallon Plate, hence the creation of the subduction zone off the west coast which started the Cascades. Most of the East Pacific Rise is gone in the north. Only the bit off Cascadia is still around with the Gorda and Juan de Fuca microplates. Further south it's still way out to sea and there's the whole Cocos Plate which is the largest remaining piece of the Farallon Plate to subduct beneath South America before the spreading ridge disappears down south.

So is the portion of California that is west of the SA fault part of another continent that the pacific plate picked up, or is it just a rise in elevation from that plate? If so, how did that part of the plate form and rise up?

Hi Nick, WHERE DID YOU GO THIS WEEKEND? From Spokane, I had previously bookmarked your talks and was not able to find you either Saturday AND Sunday night. That link did not work. We were evidently on the wrong stream. I searched the Live Stream Channel, Saturdays Lecture Supercontinents did not show up until Sunday afternoon. I manually went to your You Tube Channel both Saturday and Sunday and you were nowhere to be found. It is now 8:59 PM Sunday and I can find the Saturday replay. I am subscribed to the channel. I never received an announcement. By searching, I did find the announcement but it was not until 6:56 pm. Bottom line, Nick From Home does not show up until the next day-for me. Saturday and Sunday, you were not at the same place (I bookmarked) the previous talks 1-9. ??? We will keep trying----

There’s a delay in KZbin (I’m a YT subscriber) streaming circuits, at least at my end of the pipe in San Antonio. Sunday, 3/29/20, at 8PM CST no notification received but I’m camped out on YT and your live presentation ain’t in sight. Gave up after 20 minutes. Can’t say if and when YT finally got around to streaming you but at 10AM Monday I found 2 notifications and a link. NOT your fault. Go figure. Nevertheless, you did a fine job.

Ok why do we find dinasoar bones in Canada west coast then? Well not coast in land in Alberta bad lands and in northern British Columbia i was in Tumbler ridge 15 years ago and they were all on the dinasoar bones discoveries and foot prints Could this be glacier erosion or water erosion? That uncovered these? I used to have a picture of my son at y months old sitting in the dinasoar foot print :) three toed maybe 4 toe cus one was behind like a chicken foot but as big as a 6 month old baby butt lol I think there was lots of fossils way up north compared to bones to the south in Alberta Up north we were in the old part of the rockies wore down, mostly mountain full of coal So they probably get wore down more easily And melt water and glacier movement could expose more older stuff?? I think they had ginko leaves and i seen fern leaf fossils in the woods it was pretty big fern parts compared to what is around today and there was fossils of coral in the woods mountain area too Stone coral hiking trail Oh maybe we don't have German chocolate cake? :( I like chocolate lol Thanks Evelyn:)

all that I read about the terranes that added to NA and created BC (I'm from BC:), presents them as offshore island arcs... none of the rather recent books (last 5-10-15y) that I read mentioned Baja-BC theory.... those are all (western) Canadian books.... does Canadian geology educators are in opposition to the Baja-BC theory? Hmmm....
