A strat body guitar, strat set pickups, and a guy who really know how to play and sound like a proper strat. If Leo Fender is still alive, he will probably mention Nick Johnston as one of his fav strat player.

One awesome guitar player !!!!! Man I love stuff like that with tons of feeling in it .we need more guitar players to bring back the emotional aspect of the guitar. We have some amazing musicians (guitarists) nowadays that can not express themselves like this but they are very technical
@josejalaeno732 жыл бұрын
Plini is another great guitarist I recommend, that has both technical skill and can express himself wonderfully too. His album “Handmade Cities” is my personal favorite
@7betrayer9 жыл бұрын
That pickup switching is art. Such an underused tool and technique that creates so much expression. Cheers.

God damn, Nick's attention to detail on each one of those notes is perfect! It's like he knows how to take care of each note as it's being voiced to make it really shine, and at the same time be ready to introduce the next note or phrase he's about to drop. Never ceases to blow my mind.
@diazzsama9 жыл бұрын
Chance Boney yes, especially when he did staccato with slight off beat notes. That was heaven.

Wow, this guy is simply amazing, criminally underrated.
@TheShinyShow7 жыл бұрын
Man, the amount of times he changes pickup is immense! He'll change for one note, and switch straight back, or only for the bent part of the note. Watch through the entire song just looking at the pickup selector.
@Dreamdancer116 жыл бұрын
Yep...want a smooth tone for a phrase?...neck..want to dig in even for just a bend?bridge...and all in between...to all that also count the volume knob...you set up your sound so that you get mid volume(at 5 or 6) the tone you want...and when you open it up completely( to ten) your boost tone....you know things like that that actually matter if you play a strat type guitar with strat type pickups.....

Man, your guitar playing is good enough for the both of us. I think you're using theory and anti theory to create chaos in the midst of your fantastic riffs. I wish someone would just label some of your music videos with the scales you're playing like subtitles, then I'd be able to learn much faster.
