Guys, sampling is nothing new. It’s what you do with the track once you sample it. Nick added his own additional production and Juice Wrld recorded an original song over it. I’ve been in the business for over 20 yrs...sampling is pretty standard stuff. Also, the label clears samples, not artists and producers. No one is getting sued here and the original songwriters always get at LEAST 50% as co-writer on the new song. If Sting gets 85% it is what it is...He’s STING, a legendary artist that you now have as part of your song. Nick and Juice Wrld will still make plenty of $ and now the door is OPEN for them with a bigger fan base.

true stuff here
@TribecaBlackstarr5 жыл бұрын
The beat likely took about 15% (or less) of the effort sting put into writing whichever record the sample comes from, so 85% seems roughly accurate......what it takes to sample a beat compared to coordinating the endless shit you're obliged to do in a band + trying to write (not sample!) a song + trying to record a good take of your song + all the extra travel, recording, scheduling, moving, sleeping + building a creative atmosphere.......get your check sting! That said, never ever stop sampling because it mixes the musical pot right up and art is king.

There’s tons of mainstream producers who make their beats in like five minutes. This dude is deplorable. Cut Sting that check before the Police come
@adamjones64736 жыл бұрын
ted If it only takes 30 minutes, then why not just make your own beats? The fact is that making original beats that sound unique take a lot more than 30 minutes. It could take weeks or months of constant tweaks to get to a point where you feel the beat perfectly replicates the emotion your trying to showcase... and then some kid takes the soul from your artwork and tries to make millions off of it just for copying the beat. 😑 I’m not asking how long it takes to make a simple beat, I’m asking you how long does it take to make an original beat that also sells $$$???

@@lc-wm9fi how exactly did they avoid copyright laws when sting took 85 percent of juicewrlds earnings on the song. What are you talking about goofy. This is a blatant rip. Without that melody this song wouldnt of been a hit. If you know anything about how music is made especially anything pre 2000 artists actually knew how to make music. The reason these bum as producers sample is because they have no understanding of music theory. Watch the video when he states the guitar is so different from a trap beat. He has no idea what key the melody is written in or why it sounds "crazy" to him or speaks to him.

@@lc-wm9fi these producers will all single handledly kill hip hop. It is rare or uncommon these days for artists or producers to actually understand what they are actually doing with music.
