Post Malone was already having a good year, filled with accolades and his Platinum debut album Stoney. His new single, the 21 Savage-assisted “rockstar” is well on its way to hitting more milestones, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, in addition to racking up 133 million-plus Spotify streams and another 22 million on Soundcloud. Tank God produced the track, and he sat down with Genius to explain the creative process behind it.

As a producer man, what I learned is. Most producers are lucky if they get a hit record. And most if they do get one, they'll never get another one. The big names you see all the time like Mike Will, Metro Boomin, Southside, Lex Lugger all them guys, are super producers. And average producer or below average producer can get lucky and make a hit song. But only the really skilled guys can keep coming with the hits. It's so many producers that had a hit record and they never sniffed another one again. So saying that to say, say if you happen to get a hit record, savor that shit, and get all the money and royalties off of that bitch that you can, cause you never know. You might be chasing another hit record for the rest of your life and never get one again.

What if your over emphasis on luck is what has been holding you back??? All these producers who you look up to were like you one day,they didn't give up they kept learning more and improving their productions. Do that.Don't attribute stuff to luck.Don't concentrate on the unknown variables.Concentrate on the known common variable,HARD WORK.

its not who you know here he was at the studio doing other work for himself or someone and POST just happen to see him passing thru after his session ...90% of producers are referred from other artists or hear beats and ask who produced it and they tell their manager they wanna work with them....so its not like he knew post personally he just happen to be at the same place as him

While that is true, being in a position be able to capitalise on that connection is just as important. Post could've walked in to the studio and if Tank God hadn't spent the time learning to produce and make great beats or was a total beginner, Post likely wouldn't have made the song with him. It's one thing to be fortunate enough to be presented with an opportunity, but it's another to have the experience and the accrued skills at that moment in time to be able to make it happen. Luck ain't shit without the grind to back it up, remember that folks. Well done to Tank God 🙌🏻
@FuqqKd
@FuqqKd 4 жыл бұрын
Also when people say that Tank God "just got lucky" (which I'm not accusing you of Reymatik Beatz, just be clear) you're robbing that person of all the work they've put in and the talent that they have. Be happy for other people's success, and work hard on your own shit and hope that you get that same chance one day too. Being jealous and salty isn't going to get you anywhere.
