Great video of Nick Price... truly a great ball striker. How does a person learn to shallow-out the plane during the transition like Nick?

The steeper the backswing, the shallower the downswing. Just look at Jim Furyk or Ryan Moore. They are extreme. Nick Price's swing was as near to Leadbetter's schoolbook as it possibly could. His hands are at the same position at both adress and impact.

Sometimes the easiest way to get the Nick Price like transition is to practice without hitting many balls. A lot of it has to do with continually rehearsing the shallower move, or the laying the club down technique. Also, tempo is an amazing part of it. Although Nick looks like his tempo is quicker than most, the average golfer must be smoother and lazier in the transition. This will allow the shaft to drop and shallow out. It takes time and patience to pull it off.

RollyourRock.... to flatten out on the down swing..... try to feel as though the clubhead is sliding down your back (or maybe your spine) on the downswing. Look, it's a tough move, takes a few thousands range balls to get it right, but if you do the work your ball-striking will improve as will your core strength. You should see a different ball flight, different sound off the club, shallow divots with irons, correct spine angle (by default), a more swing around your body movement (also by default) Start with your 6 iron ....Goodluck!

Annoying interruptions and to many repetitions of the transition spoil this
