Trimming is easy! Probably wouldn't make a good youtube video but I usually sample whatever on sampler then pull out the memory card, open the memory card on my Mac and edit on a wave editor. Or if I'm sampling from a record, I record into a wave editor, edit the sample then put it on the card which goes back into the sampler. Also, sick vid!

for those following along at home: if you DON't delete the previous loops as you resample, you can then use them as different sections; in effect able to build up/break down. the end product sounds like various levels of intensity to the percussion/whatever else you're building. example: INTRO: flangey mic loop. VERSE: flangey mic loop PLUS drum samples. CHORUS: The Whole Kitchen ya dig?

Somebody get this guy the mk2......the storage space alone will make things so much easier for him. Good onya Nick. Afterthought, given that he is already familiar with sampling on this, the addition of the BOSS RC-505, at the very end of his chain, might really help.

what was the effect he was using at 20:40 and 20:48??
@mummermusic2 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t an effect, he was scanning through the start/end point of the sample. On the SP-404A when you want to trim the start or end point of a sample, you have to choose a numerical value for when the start or end is. Each new value retriggers the sample, so if you scan through these values really quickly it creates these granular tones as the start point is quickly shifted in milliseconds and continually retiggered. Does that help?
@mothsinthecanyon2 жыл бұрын
@@mummermusic ayyy thank you so much. i've used that function before but i guess i didn't realize how interesting and textural it could get to play with! much abliged.
