Good vid. I have a 55 last bl shrunken bison. Instant break in for the upper and another month for the sole (just to get some flex). And I got a packer in a semi round toe in black waxed flesh. This upper is much more supportive for my bad ankles and I have a half sole v700 on it so the sole flexes much easier. As a tip the 55last tends to be narrow so if you have a high volume foot like mine go up a width. I measure a D width, but went with an E due to high instep and high arch combo. For most of my life I have always had a 50/50 split of weight on the ball and heel on my feet and found that the high arch of PNW boots making the weight out to 33% on heel arch and ball has been great for all day comfort. I know it is not needed for all, but it is awesome.

I've had a similar experience with the 55 last. I love it. But yes not for everyone. I also love my bison builder pros, felt like no break in at all, especially for the uppers. I also love the idea of the half v bar soles, great idea!

Thanks for the video David. I have one pair on the 55, moderate dogger heel and italian brown cypress. I was not sure about the arch on the 55 being too intrusive but after a few days wearing them around the house = gold. I do not have raised arches and they were not something i needed whatsoever but i wanted to try them to see what it's like and im not saying ill never go back to other lasts but the comfort and support they provide is next level i am so glad i decided to try them. Ive got some parkhursts ordered from nick's i should get them in april or may, they will be a totally different experience for sure. I am considering an hnw boot maybe an americana is what ill get id like to try that last just havent pulled the trigger yet. Ive got 2 pairs of trumans on the 79 last which apprently feels similar to the Nick's hnw but i guess ill find out eventually. I almost dont have words to describe how good a pair of Nick's can be, if you like boots and want quality....i dont think you can do better and the price you pay is reasonable considering you might have them for the rest of your life.

I completely agree on the 55 last, I will wear other lasts, but the arch on my 55 last boots feels great. I have been tempted so many times to get the nicks Parkhurst collab, to get a Parkhurst boot built by Nicks and get a built in delta arch, just seems awesome! As for the 79 last, I have 10D in hnw and the 79 last, and the 79 is definitely wider in the waist and heel. The hnw last grips my waist better. I think the toe boxes may be be similar in terms of volume. I wouldn't say either is less roomy feeling than the other

Interesting i appreciate your reply. Trust me the delta arch option on the parkhurst is something that bugs me daily since they havent been made yet and i can make changes to my order im just hesitant since the parkhurst last is so good already i just dont want to mess with it and get the real deal from it. But.....lol now i own a 55 last its just made me question it all. Solution is buy 20 pairs of boots make them all different and say thanks to nicks for abusing my wallet lol. @@DavidsGarage1972

I have about 40 hours on a pair of Drew's six inch contractor boots and they are breaking in nicely. Not sure I like the high heel on the gravel lots I walk through, but otherwise I don't notice them. Other people do though because it seems I grew about an inch and a half overnight. Wish Drew's offered more choices in leather at their price point.

Agree with heel, definitely takes some getting used to. I really like the contractors in rowdy smooth. That leather looks and feels really great and rugged. For me, the arch on my contractors took forever to break in and felt pretty high compared to my other high arch boots

Looks like the copper rough tuff redwing. Nice boots. I have the Falcons same last in a teacore brown. Little tight across top of me foot 10-d like you. Getting E next order got a boot stretcher and they fit great now.

I'm really tempted to get a pair of falcons or Roberts, I love the arch support of the 55 last but also love the low profile of the falcon

Great looking boots, I’ve got a pair of black wax flesh boots from Nicks in the 55 last moderate heel and I absolutely love em, I’ve had them for about a year now, the leather is separating a little from the heel stack but other than that their fantastic boots.
@DavidsGarage19726 күн бұрын
Waxed flesh is probably my favorite leather for work, water resistant and require barely any maintenance

@ i just oiled them today, first time since I got them, I beat them to death and they still look great

I prefer the 55... BUT most guys will not appreciate the taller heel or whate'er. Neigh sure how much need reinforced toe when getting toe cap, but typically I prefer the structure but for some reason I get most of these PNW soft toe instead.
@Highland_Paddy6 күн бұрын
When guys talk about "break in" I think they really just got the wrong size.
@Highland_Paddy6 күн бұрын
White's & JK were both harder t' nail down the correct fit, but e'eryone seems t' insist that White's and Frank's are the better quality options. Maybe next year I try Frank's?
@Highland_Paddy6 күн бұрын
It sounds like ye could beat me t' the punch trying Frank's w' those mods ye want. I'm neigh stopping ye. [but looks like already GOT pretty much all that w' Drew's last month??]
@DavidsGarage19726 күн бұрын
I think with break there really shouldn't be pain, yeah your feet will be tired or sore but if your walking and your feet are being pain, it's probably not "break in", like you said, it's probably something to do with the fit. .. Franks is definitely on my list, I will probably check them out next but I may need to get rid of some of my other boots first :)
@Mile-long-list5 күн бұрын
Incorrect. Size isn't the issue. There's always a break in. It won't be painful it just takes time. @Highland_Paddy

Nicks will last the longest build over any mass produced boots Wesco sizing is off if you wear a size 10 D in Nicks i would go with 10.5 E I have 2 pairs of Wesco I have 10 pairs of Nicks and they are the best and 5 pairs of Whites great . I don't have any JK and do have 2 pairs Franks they build good but the instep on both VARY tight and bad break in for me I have high instep and wide foot. I have never own a RW Iron rangers and really don't have any desire to own a pair My Nicks Falcon and Urbane loggers fit the bill for me and they can be resole or rebuild and RW service is poor what I had herd
@DavidsGarage19725 күн бұрын
Thank you for the fit advice! I also wanna get a pair of nicks falcons, I really wanna check the Italian brown cypress leather. Franks is next on my list but I've just been really happy with nicks and whites boots

Honestly I wear a 12D in wesco and franks ( franks used to run nicks) my Wesco’s are definitely wider . They might be slightly shorter , but not enough to size up

I ordered from Nicks probably 2 years ago, and the whole thing was a PITA. Living in Oz, getting in touch with the salespeople they had no WhatsApp or Skype so I spent $40 talking to people to get some info but not very helpful at the time..Anyhow i ordered my Falcons with a 3-month waiting period my shoes were going into production that week so I emailed them to put an extra set of laces in the box, and I got a reply that they could not do that!! WTF I spent $150 shipping to Australia and they are not able to put a set of laces in the box???? Bakers Boots does charge $70 international shipping, who gets ripped off? I cancelled my order because of their money-hungry BS. at Nicks, I have bought many things from US businesses over the years and never had such poor customer service.

Dang that sucks. Hopefully you were able to find some good boots from some other company?

I’m sorry but what businesses have a WhatsApp or Skype? You had 3+ months to get in contact via email but waited until the last minute and had to resort to long distance call charges? I’m not sure how that is Nicks fault. Strange that they couldn’t add a pair of laces to your order, what was the reasoning?

@@2e826 Plenty of businesses use WhatsApp or Skype for international communications, it is easy and does not cost anything. I had questions that were not answered by their help centre so I wanted to talk to a person before dropping the equivalent of $1000 AUD on a pair of boots. This is the reply from Nicks when I asked them to put an extra pair of laces in the box. Hello, we cannot combine orders in our system at this time unfortunately, so they will ship separately!
