TOTALLY DIFFERENT LEAGUE!!! If your primary ball handlers/playmakers can not shoot, you will be the Raptors, this year's version of the Spurs, the Sixers, the Bucks, etc. You'll look good, to varying degrees in the regulars, but when the playoffs roll around (matchups, one opponent to focus on) you WILL Be BEATEN!!!
@Space_math.engineer6 жыл бұрын
rondo could shot mid and an occasional 3 ,but rondo can pass the ball better then ben simmons could ever dream of
@aaron50496 жыл бұрын
jessie urena Respectfully, Magic never shot 40% from 3 (38% once in season 11) and there were players who routinely shot better than him even on his own team during that time frame when the NBA "didn't focus" on 3's. But what's most alarming, is that you're not factoring in player development at all. You're just saying Magic could always shoot 3's well despite not displaying that early on, unlike other players who did before the transition to more emphasis on the 3. I'm not going to get in a back-and-forth with you, I only suggest you look around the league at that time and see for yourself. I'll grant you players shot worse, but comparatively to magic there were many who shot much better from 3. In the 30% to 40% range multiple seasons. If you want to speculate that because Magic had so many options it would hinder his 3pt shooting, I would suggest you think about basketball, and how having so much talent around you will get you wide open looks. Especially with Kareem and Worthy. So while he may have had lower attempts, they would be better looks. Unlike a player like Bird who was the focal point of Boston's offense and took tougher attempts from 3. And Bird was off the charts from 3 at a time when Magic was abysmal. And there are more examples. Magic had to improve himself. And even when magic improved, his mechanics were odd. It was a shot-put. It looked so unnatural. And I love magic.

@jameszillan4356 жыл бұрын
Anjohn Davis that’s not true. His stats have context in the moment he’s using them, that makes no sense what you just said. People just hate nick because he goes so hard for Lebron, no different how Stephen a max kellerman skip Baylee’s goes for Jordan. But the only difference is. Nick is objective when it comes to debating who’s better based on pure factual information. People say he use stats as kd stats are what basketball is. Stats are what it’s about. That’s how we determine the greatest greatness when we look back on game so to act as if stats don’t matter is nonsense but it’s definitely not everything.

Nick is spot on toward the end here, point guard is probably the easiest position you can play Simmons at given Philly's roster. Really the two positions that would make sense for Simmons is either as a point guard or as a power forward on a team that has a center that can shoot the 3 so you can play them on the perimeter enough where it doesn't clog the lane. In Philly he can't play PF because Embiid is much better offensively in the post than he is on the perimeter shooting threes, so he's gonna have to be your point guard at least a large portion of the time (as is you can use him off ball to make cuts and stuff but if that's all he's doing it's gonna be tough to play him off ball). He doesn't need to be a great shooter, but he needs to get to the point where he can shoot like 28% from 3 or something and hit a midrange jumper now and then to keep defenses honest. Crazy how within a series it went from "he's the next Magic Johnson!!!" to "yeah he can't play point guard."

Gerald .Watson he is completely wrong. Nick was right. Your SF HAS to be able to shoot. Name one SF in the league right now who cannot shoot. Ben Simmons is a pass first player, play him at the 1 and Fultz as the scoring 2 just like they did with Simmons and McConnell except fultz takes McConnell’s spot. Simmons at 1 and McConnell at the 2 actually worked hence why they won game 4
@gerald.watson54506 жыл бұрын
OgLoC2 Giannis can’t shoot as well and he’s also a pass first guy when you have a real pg which fultz is for today’s nba Ben Simmons can play off ball a lot more and it opens more scoring for him bc he can’t even create his own shot. He’s predictable bc he’s only shooting 5 feet in so the C’s exposed it and shut him down.. also what point guard can’t shoot??? Every starting pg can shoot he’s better off with someone creating for him doesn’t mean he won’t bring the ball up sometimes and initiate plays but he shouldn’t be the primary ball handler

10:53 Nick should’ve used Cris’ argument against him because he contradicted himself when he said Nick was worried to much about the position when he was the one saying Ben is not a point guard. There is no one on the Sixers that can play PG better than Ben. All he needs to do is raise his IQ for situational basketball and work on getting a legitimate jumper this offseason and he’ll be a superstar. Plus, there is a history of big PGs with succeeding in the NBA- (guys 6’5 and up) Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson, Ron Harper, Anfernee Hardaway, etc. lol Michael Carter-Williams is an exception but more times than not a big guy who can handle and distribute (Draymond Green, Charles Barkley, Brent Barry, Jalen Rose) have at the least respectable careers

I think every NBA team would love to have Ben Simmons remain as the starting point guard for the 76ers because if he can't shoot and he isn't a good passer with a mediocre defense then that will be a major hole in Philadelphia that all other NBA teams can exploit. If you think about it, no one needs to guard him on the outside which means you can crowd the lanes and the post area which denies up close and mid range jumper shots for Philly's team. Currently Philly's bread and butter shots are the high pick and roll and post up spots for Joel Embiid.
@six0forrest6 жыл бұрын
why doesn't Nick get it through his head the addition of those two stars create the extended bench and minimal fall off when subs happen. That's what makes the Rockets so hard to beat on any given night. Boston won't go stretches where they can't find a bucket. SO MANY OPTIONS!

I give credit to the 76ers though. Semi-finals all 4 games went 5 or less and out of the 4 eliminated, 76ers had more fight. From Game 2 to 5 76ers had a chance to win (won game 4) The only game they were out of was the 1st game of the series. So they did put up the best fight out of the 4 eliminated teams from the semi-finals. Raptors got swept, Pelicans got manhandled more than once, and Jazz got manhandled more than once.

I agree with ELeevate Vibes to a large extend. Plus with much better shooting clinics these days and scientific approach in execution and analytics it should be possible to make Ben Simmons a tops 30% shooter out of midrange for next season. I think the only reason he can' t shoot is because he didn' t have to in College being so superior athletically position 2-4. And as soon as Ben can knock down open js the defense cannot back down anymore from him.

This is what's wrong with a lot of analysis. Ppl act as though players can't develop. Ben Simmons is going to be 22 this summer. He just completed his FIRST YEAR EVER PLAYING POINT GUARD. And managed to lead his team to the second round. Yes, he struggled against and the totally exploited his weaknesses. But every time a team gets bounced out, people act as though the sky is falling. Struggle is part of the process for everyone. GSW went to the second rd in 2013, got knocked out the first rd in 2014 and won the finals in 2015. By the standard of some of these hot takes, warriors should've blown the team up because they took a step back. So many of the NBA elite aren't guys who were high pedigree, Top 5 picks. A lot of them are guys who just DEVELOPED their games over time. Klay, Jimmy Butler, Paul George, Kawhi, McCollum are a few examples of players developing into much more than they were when they were drafted. But people get so caught up in the moment and forget to... Trust The Process.

I do not agree with Nick as usual .Boston is every season in playoffs have vet experience player in Al who make difference.Sixers don't need James I hope he's not coming but need player like George.

Boston should trade Kyrie before his injuries get too crazy, because its going to happen. Could bring in someone from Portland, or maybe Kawhi.

Forget the sixers put lebron on the celtics with kyrie, jaylen, horford, jayson, rozier, tatum and hayward and they would beat the warriors

You crazy if you think Lebron and Simmons gnna work. What Simmons gnna do of Lebron will be the primary ball handler ? Shoot ? Yeah right.
@B.N.HMedia6 жыл бұрын
I don't think Lebron will fit well with ben Simmons they both pretty much play the same game except lebron is alot better at it.

Wouldn't Lebron and Simmons be redundant?
@AysarAburrub6 жыл бұрын
not if LeBron plays more off-ball, which he said he wants to do. This way Simmons can pass and make plays, and LeBron can be the reliable finisher that Philly is lacking.

Aysar Aburrub lebron is not an off ball player
@AysarAburrub6 жыл бұрын
I didnt say he is ... I said that its rumored that Lebron said he wants to play more off-ball in the future.

Cris Carter sounds so dumb saying Simmons isn't a point guard. This guy knows absolutely nothing about basketball. Stick him on some football only show and get Nick a real co-host.
@DsLmaNiaC6 жыл бұрын
Mxtt Nick Wright's points are always made so he can somehow end up defending LeBron.
@0xVon6 жыл бұрын
Regardless of his bias towards Lebron at least he backs up everything he says with statistics and has competent basketball knowledge.
