@windy3935Ай бұрын
Funny, I was gonna suggest this game next in the _Legacy of Kain_ video. I'm usually anti-remasters, because they're always fucking with/up some things from the original whether that be design ruination and/or introduction of brand new issues that didn't exist previously. From what I've been seeing of this The Thing remaster, this looks like one of the best ever made... and that's probably unfortunately due to some of original developers being involved ("unfortunately" because it means they'll always be needed to get the best/cleanest version possible which obviously isn't always possible). There seems to be almost no unfavorably forced changes that makes you want to revisit the original (which can't be said about a lot of other re-releases I've played). The only kinda-one I heard about is the more increased ammo drop during that one section of the game where none existed before, which naturally makes the game easier, but my concern would only be if they added more universally throughout the game which would be far more impactful, and I haven't quite heard. There's also the blue graphic filter (more on that later) which could annoy some of us, but unlike basically every other game remaster/remake that's actually an optional feature this time around. So certain quality of life features, new effects like blood pools (even though sadly it quickly disappears) & vomit splatter, and expanded lore (incl. tying into the movies) are nice and welcomed changes that factor into my positive assessment of this remaster so far. The one and important thing the video didn't cover was the blue graphic filter situation. Usually in other re-releases we'd be forced to live with graphical adjustments like this, but they made the right choice to make it optional (I want to know who's idea that was). The purpose behind this setting is to make the game feel more inline with the movies that use the same effect, which was a great idea but an ever greater idea to make it optional (as I prefer the original atmosphere visuals in certain places - would not want to be stuck with only this ice'y-blue filter eternally, something the recent _Until Dawn remake_ did not respect). *I was really hoping to see direct comparisons between the original game and remaster with that blue filter toggled OFF (it was left toggled on in the video),* especially to also see if the visual tone had other differences from the original. Overall this is what I wanted/needed and STILL want/need from a *_Dead Space 1_* remaster and *_Spyro_* trilogy remaster (both their remakes are perplexing disappointments). I need my enhanced re-releases to be disciplined and only contain clever design changes. 98% of the time creative liberties alone go too far.
