After Tinsley the 399s don't change voltage, the ohle is at 750v dc just like the rest of the conventional tram network, there's just a neutral section between to separate them. The driver registers the gsmr, presses the VIS Ready to set the signal before going onto network rail.

The freight line used to be double track, and goes from Rotherham to Woodburn Junction on the Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes via Brigg/Lincoln line. It was electrified in 1965 as part of the Woodhead Route, and used to have a double track going into the then new Tinsley yard. The line was singled in the early 1990s as the supertram track took up most of the Railway track.

The line is the old mainline out of Sheffield victoria, which was abandoned during the beeching axe. They reused the majority of the line for the tram, but they kept 1 freight track used very rarely

It's also a diversionary route used to get to Rotherham Central if Meadowhall is unusable. XC & TPE both use it once a day.

I had great fun a year ago following you lead and visiting these stations in Chicago: Clinton, Harrison, Roosevelt, Indiana, Sedgwick, Thorndale, Merchandise Mart, Adams & Wabash, and State & Lake. Merry Christmas from America!

I did my own challenge on the Sheffield Supertram in 2022 - March the 8th if anyone's interested. I visited all the stops under Class C rules (have to pass through every station, not necessarily stop) in over 3 hours. The Rotherham section took ages, partly because I had to wait for a tram for 25 minutes (a similar problem recurred when I did the Vienna U Bahn) and because of the dwell time at the end of the line Speaking of the Vienna U Bahn, might be a suggestion for you and Nat for Valentine's Day if you can afford it.

Thanks for visiting our great system! I hope you enjoyed visiting it. The freight line that follows the Y and TT is a freight line, it's a split off from the passenger line that the TT also uses. When using the new TT (or citylink) trams you can press the button before the stop to open the doors when unlocked, similar to metrolink in Manchester.

Nice to see you at Sheffield and taking a ride on the Sheffield Supertram to Rotherham Parkgate. I quite like the Class 399 Citylink Tram-train since they were manufactured by Vossloh/Stadler. Transport for Wales are to introduce the Class 398 Citylink Tram-trains from next year. With the Class 231 and Class 756 Stadler Flirts now in service.

The best thing about SST is the staff. They're super, literally putting the super in supertram. Nice video. I use the trams often, so this was good to see. If you visit again, get off at Shalesmoor and visit Kelham island and go for a beer.

Hi Nick. The railway line you asked about is a freight line that used to go to Sheffield Victoria. It's now mainly used for freight as well as some trains such as TPE that have terminated at Sheffield and are running empty stock to Doncaster or the depot.

Quite a lot of stuff on the Meadowhall and Rotherham branch in this video feel sorry for halfway and herdings park branch to feel left out as you could’ve had Crystal peaks for C herdings Park Halfway Herdings Leighton Road or Hollensend for H and for S there’s about 3 tram stops with the letter S Sheffield Station Shelsmoor and Spring lane wished you did the halfway line is well not just the Meadowhall great video on the Supertram though

The Railway Line is the former Great Central Line that went from Sheffield Victoria to Doncaster via Rotherham and Mexborough. It is now a freight line. By the way, if it is Christmas Day as you state in the first 10 seconds of this video, how did you manage to get into Meadowhall when it was shut? And... there was no Supertram service on Christmas Day. Do you work for GB News?

As far as I can tell, NET doesn't work unfortunately as there's no "A" station, or "Ma" station. (Unless you took a loose definition and used stations in the Robin Hood zone, in which case you could claim Attenborough near Toton (bit of a walk from the nearest Tram Stop at Bramcote Lane though!)
