i saw someone point out that mulan being called to that camp meant that's where her father was likely to go, which means as a senior, experienced, injured soldier (hell, the son of a decorated general was almost starstuck at just his name) amongst a clear crowd of green misfits, he likely would've been given a higher rank AND the unit was likely intended to see little to no combat in normal circumstances. it obviously didn't turn out that way but if that theory holds any weight, it means that whoever issued the assignments WAS taking fa zhu's age and affliction into account when deciding where to put him. that's neat

A lot of people in the comments seem to think this is the "new set up" going forward, but what you said about it at the beginning of the video made it seem like this is just the set up you use for your podcasts, so I'm a little confused 😂😅 If you do plan on keeping both for different purposes, I think that's great! ❤😊 I think doing all the fun, goofy reactions and also the drinking reactions on the chill couch makes sense cuz it has more of a "bro" feel to it. I was such a tomboy growing up and this movie meant so much to me ❤ it was really inspiring to me that they showed that girls can do things like join the army and save China, or just do pretty much everything that guys can do. It’s so real when they realize she’s a girl and they start ignoring her and write her off when she’s trying to warn them. I still cry when I hear “Reflection”, and “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” slaps more than almost any other Disney song. The suiting up scene where she cuts her hair goes so hard! She’s such a badass. Glad you guys watched this, it’s one of my favorites! Loved Cory’s analysis of a girl worth fighting for, I’ve seen this so many times and I never thought of that!

Fun fact I saw on another video! The soldiers are so caught up about Mulan being a woman, but the huns were used to women being warriors , so when the villain sees her he just refers to her as “the soldier from the mountains” which is cool I guess

The reason why Mulan's disguise as a man was seen as high treason, was because in ancient China only men can join the military, and what Mulan did was basically lying to the emperor. In ancient China that's treason, enough to get yourself killed (or even get all of your family killed). However if you read the ancient Chinese history or the poem about Mulan, it's worth noting that there probably were some women disguised as soldiers when the empire was in need. The poem (likely fictional) was amazing, we had to read and memorize the entire poem about mulan back in junior high school 😂 I'd totally recommend it to you guys. P.s. Bros you're talking about Japanese culture instead of Chinese culture when discussing Mulan's dad's hairstyle 😅
