Hello. Welcome to my dissertation about Euphoria Season 2 Episode 6. In today's lecture we will be discussing the duality of forgiveness and rejection of identity via the parallel character studies that are presented to you. This discussion will be in the hopes of convincing you that while some deeds go unpunished, others should be forgiven - thus is the morale of the show Euphoria. This also is in the hopes of getting accepted into Harvard English department via this essay. Please can I use you as a reference on my application? All my teachers told me to get lost...

I don't think Maddie is mad that Cassie was fucking her ex-boyfriend precisely, but the fact that Nate was emotionally and physically abusive to her, so by fucking Nate, Cassie is telling her that she doesn't care that he hurt her so much. Ohhh, I would LOVE to see Fez and Ali talk

@@SavvyMuhon she didn't have much empathy for Tyler when she lied about him r@ping her causing Nate to almost beat him to death and then to top it off frame him for Nate's assault against her so she can get back with him. Cassie is a dumb beech but let's not forget Maddie literally destroyed a person's life to get back with her abusive boyfriend. she's loyal to her friends but a terrible person overall.

@@edithputhy4948 Do you really think Maddie would've expected all that to happen with Nate and Tyler?? Also, the reason she doesn't throw Nate under the bus is just another example of the trauma and abuse he's caused her. Maddie is far from perfect, but she definitely isn't to blame for Nate stalking and beating the life out of Tyler. He didn't even that excuse, it was just a nice touch and made him feel more like a savior. Also, it was illegal and (technically) statutory r@pe because Maddy was a minor, he just didn't know that she was lying to him..but why was a college student at a high school party in the first place??

The director of the show was a drug adict so yes everything about rue is accurate. He used his own story to make the character of rue, even the fights she has with her mom are somehow inspired by his own fights. Also the candy thing, he talked about it, it supposedly I think (don't remember well) helps with a bad taste you have in your mouth during withdrawal or something like that,. It was specifically that candy the one he ate during withdrawals to help him, it's apparently something we'll know in the "addict community".

I do not understand how some don't just see the jolly rancher scenes and get that she physically couldn't open it the first time due to withdrawal then later was, showing that she was getting through it. 😑

some explanation for the scene w rue n the jolly rancher: rue is withdrawing off all the drugs she took PLUS the morphine the drug dealer gave her so shes not doing well. shes also depressed n suffering from a drop of serotonin cuz of the drUGS n her life is kinda in shambles rn. when ur depressed it makes it really hard to do anything (eat, drink, use the bathroom, move...) so that scene is showing how hard shes struggling to eat the jolly rancher in front of her

euphoria is unfortunately very relatable for me. both of my parents were drug addicts my whole life and my high school was practically a carbon copy of euphoria high. I know it may be extreme, but this show is quite an accurate representation of gen z adolescence

Loved your reaction. This episode was crazy. I felt so bad for Maddie, she's going to be traumatized for a really long time. Nate is just the worst character ever, at that moment with Maddie, he is unforgivable like there is no going back. I love Euphoria and the different storylines. Back again with another Euphoria episode and back again to enjoying the commentary to an otherwise insanely depressing episode especially to me. My ex fiance would threaten to off himself the way Nate did to Maddie just to illicit a response out of me sometimes about certain things so i remember when i watched this episode initially with friends i just burst out breaking down and crying! I never thought i'd be laughing to this episode (granted its not the episode alone because yall are reacting to it but yk what i mean) and it feels a *little* less heavy, so thank you for both being so entertaining with these reactions :)

The new 2 episodes are CRAZY !! An you should really watch the rest of season 1 Side note with rehabs often they don’t have many an they only have limited amount of beds so Rue mom could be in this spot easy with no others around that have a bed open, I remember looking for my boy when he got really bad an I must have called 200 in Pennsylvania, all they would tell me is you can to call first thing in the AM, so if they open at 6:00 an you dialed at 05:59.55 it would already be busy an then whatever time I finally got through, they were already full up an I was told try again Tomrrow, it took line 6 straight days of that to get him a spot😤 it’s hard but unfortunately way to common an underfunded

the show is actually based on the director’s life and their experiences with drugs. and while i’m not going to say it’s accurate because not all drug addict stories are the same, it’s at least accurate to the directors experiences, therefore probably many others i’m sure

well not entirely, rue is a queer biracial girl from a single mother household around the poverty line while Sam levinson is the straight white male son of a stinking rich Oscar winning director and producer who has all the resources and connections to get his son the best treatment available no matter the cost
