I cannot even begin to imagine what life must be like if you are moving between foster families, with little stability other than the constant of being treated miserably, and the only people you long for are a mother who wants nothing to do with you and a brother that is kept away from you by that same mother. Few people will ever have felt lonelier than she, and with her being in such a bad place devoid of love and in her puberty, anyone bullying her should at the very least be put under close scrutiny, as there should be a fair amount of disturbed individuals among them. Her mother should be sued for her part in this. But all of that would not bring back that poor lonely soul. Imagine how different things could have gone if she had been faced with an audience who cared about her, tried to lift her spirits, got help going immediately, tried to talk her out of it, and sticking up for her if anyone had said something evil. To end on a positive note, judging by the comment sections I see nowadays, I think KZbin audiences have moved towards more empathy in cases like this. Hopefully, the risk of this ever happening again has gone down considerably.

Yes, the dispatcher is worse, and that's when eye for an eye punishment should occur
@jnxllx15 күн бұрын
Literally what I was thinking. The dispatcher should've been the one to provide the information received to the cops, alerting them that it's urgent, telling them he's stuck in the type of car he described in the location she had sent the cops to. You can't throw cops into a situation they know very little about, but they even got the exact coordinates of where the phone call was placed... They couldn't have at least checked out or thought that the call was coming FROM the car instead of driving away, saying "Nobody was there" and assuming it was a joke? Dispatcher wasn't doing their job and the cops were being lazy and very inconsiderate. All involved should've been held responsible by law.

How about the story of the officer who got a tip about a missing little girl just as his shift was done, then drove around to local motels all night until he finally found the girl, and the dirtbag p*do who kidnapped her? The plenty of police do go above and beyond for people who need help. The officers can’t do much if the dispatchers don’t give them the right information. I’m not making excuses for these officers or any others, because seemingly no one was taking the call seriously. But, generalizing police as always just “harassing minorities” or whatever is nonsense. Just like real life, there are good people in a job field, and there are bad people in them.

Hello, mortician here to weigh in on the Masha story! I have seen every state of decomposition and work with cases that have decomposed a few times each year. In my opinion, there is reasonable possibility that the “corpse” in the photograph is not real. Specifically, I noticed three things. 1. The average air temp (year round) in the Odessa catacombs is apparently 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius.) Being in a cool, dry environment without much oxygen, it would decompose at a much slower rate than average. The photo was reportedly taken roughly 3 months after Masha entered the catacombs, which means that yes under normal conditions we would expect dry remains or nearly dry remains like the photo by now. However, being in the catacombs, this level of decomposition in that time is strange. 2. What’s going on with the arms? There’s so much structure to the rest of the body but absent or nearly absent arms. These seem like empty sleeves; the body decomposes at a pretty uniform pace, so the arms can’t just “decompose first.” 3. What is all over the body? Unlikely to be mold growth, insect activity, or fungi at this temperature and depth. Is it supposed to be dust or dirt? It is weirdly uniform shape and size wise. Anyways, that’s my ramble! Great video as always 🤠
@PondScummerАй бұрын
I wouldn't use anything to do with the Masha story to identify an age of the corpse, since Masha is almost entirely an urban legend that is (iirc) older than the image. I have to wonder though, at those colder temps if the white stuff on the body could be 'adipocere', where body fats and lipids solidify and turn soap-like. Although If the body can provide enough moisture mold absolutely will grow. I mean it grows in a 4 degree fridge just fine, and depth isn't going to affect fungi since they don't need sun and do fine in stagnant air. Mold spores are also absolutely everywhere around and on us, we are far from sterile. So even if not found down there it would have hitched a ride on the person to their final place. Another point, conditions for mummification aren't a given in every cave or underground space, without knowing the internal climate there's no way to know for sure that the space is good for mummification. As for the irregular de-comp, I do wonder if the pants they are wearing restricted decay to their lower-half or something to do with organs just sped it up near the front. I don't think someone would put so much effort into making such a convincing fake corpse, at least 5 explorers go missing in the Odesa Catacombs each year and are never recovered. I personally haven't seen as many human decomps, but have seen many animal carcasses in different environments. The body honestly looks quite a lot like animals who die in sheds and under houses, down mineshafts and other dry & stagnant areas.
@theswagman1263Ай бұрын
Could the upper part of the body have been submerged during temporary flooding in the tunnels, leading to faster decomposition than the rest? It looks like it's also the lowest section of the corpse

The Facebook live case is disgusting. That sick woman's eagerness to push her own daughter to suicide only to turn around and play the role of a mourning loving mother is insane. Her daughter loved her unconditionally and yet she despised her, wanted her dead, and continues to make fun of her after her death. She should be locked up. I understand how it might seem unfair to punish her specifically when there were other people in the chat, but I think it's pretty clear that she was the driving force behind her daughter's death. I don't think her daughter really wanted to die either, I think she was taken advantage of during what was actually a cry for help.
@cheeplethebulldog1420Ай бұрын
Hell boils for people like her. Hope she realizes that her reputation is now in shambles.
@billbill6094Ай бұрын
No it's not unfair. Just from what we see on screen it looks like her mother was making her watch porn and then making her sleep in beds alone with her various boyfriends by the age of 6, then at 6 caught her engaging in a sex act with her babysitter, blamed the little girl as the aggressor not considering a grown ass man knows damn well his actions are reprehensible and not considering it may be what she did to her daughter that made her hypersexual (common sexual assault trauma response), then beat her 6 year old daughter so hard she was brutalized and taken into foster care where other people neglected and abused her. Her mother made her kill herself, plain and simple. She tried to justify that "no mother wants their child to be a juvenile delinquent" when every single action she took as a mother set her daughter up for failure and maladaption. Her bullying her daughter as she talked about loving her mom and wanting to kill herself to get away from the pain after years of verbal abuse and refusing to let her see her mother or her brother was simply fanning the flames she started.
@drewlmaoАй бұрын
@@billbill6094 I completely agree with you. I was just trying to consider how she could've possibly escaped punishment. I suspect the rationale that she was just one of many factors in her daughter's death, but I don't believe that to be true.

For ten minutes, she kept telling me she wouldn't send help unless I gave her an actual address. Finally, someone heard me screaming at her and got the center's security to bring a kit to help. When the lady heard them, she was going to hang up, but the guy took my phone and gave her the address and demanded an ambulance. To this day, I'm still furious about it. Odessa resident here. I'm very surprised to hear of my city (almost no one speaks of it outside post-Soviet countries, yet despite it's pretty much interesting in every perspective, in creepy things too), and I would like to say that it is very easy to get lost and die in these catacombs. I was inside of them myself once and that was an explored path that is pretty much popular, stationed in the middle of a crowded living area. It is really creepy, even routes that are widely known have a lot of partways in which you can easily lose tracks and die with no coordination or network. And in addition, Odessa has zero info of serial killers and maniacs acting in an area. The only "true crime" info you can find lacks any proof and looks blursed, so it is likely a whole lot of corpses could be inside the catacombs - 80% of them will never be discovered. Speaking of this corpse, I find odd it has no hair on and has sport clothes that are used in catacombs environment. I believe it is a male explorer who got lost in 1990s (if the photo was taken in 2004), because in humid yet cold atmosphere a lot of time passes until corpse decomposes to that condition. For example, in 2011 one pretty famous explorer went to the 'combs in the Odessa suburb named Kholodnaya Balka, and gone missing only to be found dead several years after with better conditions. This certain case is, most definitely, one of the real cases and reminds that exact case. Thanks for mentioning our humble city. We have a lot of mysteries to tell and even more those which are still veiling in shadows, waiting for the moment to be showed up.

When I was back there with the large group of tourists, it was a little difficult to breath sometimes, so it's kinda impossible for more than a several days. The only guests of this place as I know (and I am neither a digger or any person who knows much of it) are teenagers from suburbs, when there is still a large amount of unsecured entrances. Year ago a tragedy almost happened, 4 kids from a nearby village barely escaped death after walking inside the combs, but all were saved by the police. and I know it only cuz I got curious and started some research about the topic. BTW, the combs were extremely popular in 1990s-2000s, because nobody gave a hell about safety and a lot of entrances were open and easy to use, so many teenagers such as goths, emos, punks, satanists etc. spent some time in the underground. VICE assumed that Masha was definitely a girl but perhaps some kind of satanist whose corpse was found months later when some Latvian businessman's son disappeared and diggers started to check the combs in order to find this guy and take the reward.

Sometimes people in that kind of distress are seeking attention as a sign of wanting help but not really knowing how to ask for it. Especially with Naika since she was still being abused in some of her foster homes. This could have led her to not understand the best way to ask for help. Those comments on her livestream could have pushed her over the edge. She may have started the livestream without the intention to actually go through with her plan, trying to use it as a last attempt for help. However, that was obviously not what she received. "Septic Tank Sam". Super degrading name for a John Doe, especially one who was indigenous and brutally tortured before being murdered. Tofield John Doe should have stuck. At least he got his real name back a year or two ago. Gordon Edwin Sanderson was his name, and he was sadly a victim of the Sixties Scoop when he was a child. Also that dispatcher case really made my blood boil. He made his distress very clear and they didn't have an ounce of urgency at all because the dispatcher failed to tell the police that he was close to death.

Sadly most Doe victims get called by how they were killed, it's a codename, is it disrespectful? Yes very much so. But does it make sense? Yes also very much so unfortunately.

@@rustyshackleford5830 "Super degrading name for a John Doe." I said it was a horrible name for any unidentified decedent, indigenous or not. 🙄 Even if he was white, it's still a terrible Doe name. The fact that he was indigenous and the victim of a violent crime, and the way indigenous people go missing and are murdered with authorities not giving a shit makes the name even worse. Look up MMIWG (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Children) aka Missing and Murdered Indigenous People.

For the last story: The Kid who survived was accused (never convicted) of the 3 murders in the woods. However the man in the picture who fits the description lived in a cabin extremely close to where the triple homicide happened. About 15 years after the murders, the man was talking to a neighbor/friend and admitted being the one who killed those 3 teens 15 years ago. The friend/neighbor responded with “well if that’s true you should just kill yourself” the man who claimed to be the murderer was found in the lake later that day, he drowned himself. OMG, the police sketches/reconstructions of dead people are always such nightmare fuel. @@it6lics it makes me feel so disrespectful to feel creeped out by them cuz those were real people with real feelings but you kinda can't help it, uncanny valley is proven to invoke a primal/psychological response in us that makes us feel uncomfortable because we adapted to recognize facial features and when things don't align with how we naturally perceive a human to look we subconsciously and instinctually perceive it as a threat which causes that uneasy feeling. Ultimately it's both creepy and sad. RIP to these people whose lives were cut short.

Police officer here, so I thought I should comment on the first one. Dispatchers not relaying important information and severity almost certainly lead to this. Police officers not knowing the vehicle description and exact location could have lead them to "Write it off as a hoax" That being said, when we're looking for somebody who could be trapped, we're supposed to roll the windows down at a minimum. I roll my windows down all the time, it allows me to hear things I otherwise would not have. RIP Kyle, you were failed by many people.

to my knowledge, police sketches are made to look the way they do on purpose. they're made to highlight the most prominent features of the person so people who knew them will see that and be like "hey, that really reminds me of so and so's big nose!"
