I was at the show on Sept. 11th 2001. It was at the York Fair. Chad's description on the evening is spot on. I was dragged to the show by my wife because of the days events, but was so glad both bands helped us all forget for a few hrs that night. Side note, its totally cool to be able to say you saw Chad and his band as an opening band. As a metal head, I take pride in seeing them early in their career.

The metal community has always been very close-minded, trying to present themselves as open-minded. While lots of them are plenty nice, They love to gatekeep. As if you aren't allowed to like nickelback, creed, 3 doors down, disturbed, staind, etc. I'm not crazy about nickelback, but I love 3 doors down and creed. Music doesn't have to challenge the listener to be good. Doesn't need to be technical fast riffs and blast beats and screaming all the time. Screw them. Like what you like.

True story. Played 1 hockey game with the band when they just released their first album. Set them up for goals, we laughed and high-fived each other. Went upstairs later on and their record label rep bought rounds of beer for all of us. We chatted for a long time and drank. The whole time not having a clue who the heck these kids were. Was invited to their show the next night at a small local club....and couldn't believe how good they were. But yep......ALL of the boys were down to earth and super friendly. Couple years later I was going to a stadium to see these boys.
