I was at the show on Sept. 11th 2001. It was at the York Fair. Chad's description on the evening is spot on. I was dragged to the show by my wife because of the days events, but was so glad both bands helped us all forget for a few hrs that night. Side note, its totally cool to be able to say you saw Chad and his band as an opening band. As a metal head, I take pride in seeing them early in their career.

True story. Played 1 hockey game with the band when they just released their first album. Set them up for goals, we laughed and high-fived each other. Went upstairs later on and their record label rep bought rounds of beer for all of us. We chatted for a long time and drank. The whole time not having a clue who the heck these kids were. Was invited to their show the next night at a small local club....and couldn't believe how good they were. But yep......ALL of the boys were down to earth and super friendly. Couple years later I was going to a stadium to see these boys.

When i heard "Good times gone" from silverside up. It completely a shock to the system. The slide. The lyrics. The riffs. Some songs (mostly sexual) felt like a lack of creativity. But i was not aware Chad was writing all the time. For the band, for other people, for himself. Nickelback still a great band. The state, and silver side up are still my favorite albums i do love the long road. But darkhorse and here and now felt weak. No fixed address made me a fan again and their last two albums are great. But the state and silver sideup that their bread and butter. Still amazing albums 20 years later
